If you're going to buy it, buy it with the season pass so you get all the content. Make sure you add mods too because vanilla is shit.

This fallout is NOTHING like the other ones, this isn't an RPG.
it's an action game with a skill tree. The quests are boring, the main plot is predictable and there's not a lot to be desired here.
The one saving grace is the combat is the best in the series.
Download some gun mods so you aren't stuck with pipe weapons the whole game.

I've been waiting a year to play it, waiting for DLC to lower in price.

Todd memes aside, I did like it and I do think it is a better game then Fallout 3.

However, the dialog system was complete shit and pretty much the same options for the most part, and there was a lot of jank in the game that I am sure is still there (I played it at launch, so eh). The story itself was pretty boring, although I did like the companions you got.

Personally: Fallout NV > Fallout 1 & 2 > Fallout 4 > Fallout 3

You know, I actually managed to beat the main quest line, and what really bugged me was how little freedom I had. In NV, I could be my own character, because all you knew was you were a courier, and you got shot. That's it. Here, they do that for you and you're supposed to just go along with it, not to mention the twist was predictable as fuck. That being said, once you beat the game and just fuck around? It's not half bad. The best quest was the museum.

There are countless RPGs that don't give the player total creative freedom with the character. Hell, even NV turns around and tells you that your character is indirectly responsible for the divide, and it happened before the player even created them.

I got 35 hours out of it and it's not out of the question that I will play it again one day but I still find it really hard to recommend. I loved 3, but the entire time I was playing 4 the main thing I felt was disappointed, the shooting is better but not by all that much and there's a million small problems that could very easily have been fixed if they just gave a shit. I think the thing that made me stop was when I realized that the shop I used to sell everything at in the main hub had no collission detection on the awning covering the shopkeeper. It's not a big deal in itself but after all these minor problems popping up again and again seeing such an easily fixed thing in the main hub of the game where you are going to spend most of your time it just drained the last of my interest somehow.

It managed to capture my attention for like 30+ hours just fucking around with settlements and doing other shit.

I would say is a "decent" game if you stop looking at it as a RPG, look at it like an action exploration game, that are what describes Bethesda games now, is becoming its own genere.

Explore, collect shit, craft shit and keep going, the gunplay is the best the series has seen, the plot is pants on head retarded, the world is always full of shit to explore with density of enemies, the graphics looks washed out but you can mod it.

Again, if you play this game as a "Scavenger in the post apocalypse: The game" You will have a lot of fun, dont bother thinking "Where muh RPG shit".

It's a shit rpg but its also not a very interesting exploration game. Too many pipe rifles and first level shits. Usually Bethesda can make interesting theme parks, but besides the city streets of Boston nothing is very new. The shooting mechanics are alright, but hell if you're looking for that get on DOOM, Wolfenstein, Quake, or any of the classic build engine games if you're looking for that.
