Paladins is definitely uglier and buggier but it plays better in pretty much every way.

OW's strength is its polish and presentation and that's about it. It's one of those games you "play with friends" in order to actually enjoy it. But you could just as easily play a better game with friends.

I'm actually pissed I wasted $40 on OW because I was expecting something better than Paladins but it's just completely inferior in terms of gameplay. But I started playing TF2 recently and I like it a lot so fuck them both.

eh, the reward system isn't very good. if you're a veteran fps player and have a few friends who play it might be fun. the only thing that kept me playing was me being a competitive person. i spent 8 hours a day for months trying to improve my aim since it was my first fps. i eventually became decent and climbed in competitive, but it just takes so much effort for little to no reward as a solo player.

The only fun you'll have in the game is finding ways to be useful to your team by learning how to use each character properly and get good.
There's this satisfaction from seeing almost instant results from being credit to your team in the middle of a game.
But, you're not really working towards anything.
Anything you "unlock" is purely cosmetic and interacting with other players with voice lines, animations, and skins.

Nothing you unlock is of any significance. They don't change how you play the game, they don't have any impact on the gameplay.
You only ever play to get better and level up so you can play against people equal to your skill.

That's it. Unlike TF2, you're stuck with the weapons and gadgets you start with.
Which - unless you're not easily bored - will get repetitive after around 24 hours of playtime.

Each of TF2's characters have a higher skill ceiling. Movement alone in TF2 is much more complex than Overwatch. Overwatch might require more coordination (haven't played it at a high level so I don't know if it requires more than TF2), but the lack of required mechanical skill bores me.

TF2 pros who are now OW pros state this too. It's something that's recognizable to anyone who is at least OK at TF2.

Overwatch isn't a bad game, but there are certainly a lot of bad design choices that go into it. The TTK is extremely low and there are cheesy kills everywhere. To balance this, the maps are designed with like, 10 chokes at the very least and barriers are necessary to balance it. You will also spend a lot of time simply waiting for ults to come up so you can push, and the game boils down to their ults vs mine sometimes. The character balancing needs some work. While the ultimate abilities in this game are incredibly powerful, some are considerably useless.

A lot of people compare this game to paladins, which does a few things better but a few things worse. The obvious things are, the character designs are hideous comparatively, and the sound/visual assets have no polish to them at all. Same with the gameplay. Character balancing also has some issues, with newer characters being essentially useless on launch compared to earlier characters in the same category. You will spend less time charging ultimates and can take a point without them. I'm not sure this is still the case, but characters are less bound to the category they are supposed to be in. All the characters are essentially DPS with minor healing / tanking capabilities. (Especially the new girl with the balls). There is a bit more depth to be found here though.

Overwatch is more polished but possibly more frustrating and cheesy.

Paladins has a bit more depth but is unpolished.

The Company who provided said game sees this as support for their "hard" "work". Instead of using their resources and time to make more maps, or gamemodes, or heroes, or any content that isn't dogshit, they'll continue to shit out mediocre skins only autist whales care about, because that's where the money is. Instead of incentivising more players through more and improved content, they only want to milk the same autists with cosmetic garbage.
