Citra is actually pretty shit, and the only option. You're best off buying a used 2ds and hacking that shit.

If you have a decent rig you could run an emulator alright, but you might have some issues with faster paced games (frame drops, sound bugs, general emulator fuckery).

If you don't, buy a used 3DS and crack it. It's easy to do but you risk getting your NNID banned if you play online (if you care that is).

OP, in my experience having a real 3ds has a lot of benefits
-You can play in the bathroom or the bed
-You can play in airplanes but watch out for excessive wahoos
-You can take it with you if you travel/commute a lot
-You can pirate it to play Ice Climbers, Leaf Green and Osu, assuming you have a DS flashcart. No, DS emulation is still trash and we shouldn't expect any progress soon. Also it's fucking $10

-It costs money
-It runs at 240 and sound is garbage so you're pretty much forced to use headphones
-The hacking process takes like 3 or 4 hours because the 3ds processor is ass

If you can put together a table from Walmart this is more or less the same. The instructions usually are

>Copy A_File into computer
>Copy B_File into sd card
>Install thing_program using the loader
>Wait for the slow ass 3ds to do it's thing
Newer 3ds are easier to hack. I have an O3DS XL and it took me like 6 hours because the process used to be longer (also the old 3ds takes longer to process stuff)
