"Savior" narratives are in the same vein as a Yankee in King Arthur's Court or all them /a/ insekai stories where some dude shows up from a more advanced time/place/universe and uses their knowledge to "save" the locals from their ignorance. However, in the case of FC3 I feel that that narrative title is wrong, since the idiot protagonist in 3 hardly "saves" anyone with his superior knowledge, in fact his knowledge base it totally worthless ("dude party hard lmao" is his only "civilized" skill) and just happens to gitgud.

5 will be no different, it's going to be the exact same shit as 3 and 4 (and to some degree 2) where you show up for some objective, get side tracked and do a bunch of side jobs for the locals, overthrow the evil dudes oppressing the locals, and then get a choice of two endings where you maybe do the thing you wanted to in the first place. You don't impart anything to the locals (which is key to the "savior" narrative) besides maybe choosing one faction of locals over the other, you just fuck off and die/leave.

I actually like how the game seems a little more grounded. The cultists seem like The Devil's Rejects and the allies to the character actually seem grounded and believable. This game might be the most grounded far cry since 2.
That being said, I wish they chose a more believable enemy than a cult, or at least made the cult look more militia like than wearing vests and robes.

Rural voters have a much stronger defense in the form of politics, things like the farm bill and other rural support bills are a bipartisan given and they have steadfast support from their representatives (far stronger than urban representatives). Hell you also see plenty of positive rural tropes adapted by the urbanites in hollywood, and rural people moving into the urban zones to join the entertainment industry who bring those rural themes with them.

And by electoral college standards the low-population states have a very strong population to electoral vote ratio, even if the states themselves have few electoral vote. A single vote in Wyoming is four times the value of a vote in California, for instance. Of course, there's plenty of rural areas in those big states as well, so the electoral collage is not the end all be all (and it does little to protect rural voters, just shifts the focus to battleground states, of which low-density states are almost never on the list).

Rural voters just have the illusion of being weaker because they're not as concentrated, so they can't have big rallies or big media events without huge travel times.
