>reloading with a partial magazine causes you to lose the rest of your ammo
>you can use car turn signals by holding down the directional key
>if you park on a hill and forget to activate the handbrake, the car will roll down the hill
Why don't more games have this level of TECHNOLOGY?
>>
>>378170471
>that car deformation that was way way better than anything else at the time
>smashed glass and bullet casings littering the floor
>>
>>378170471
Because none of that sounds fun.
>>
>>378170471
Something I discovered quite by accident, if you shoot a car that has an empty tank of fuel, it will never blow up. If the car has a full tank of fuel, it will blow up quite quickly.
>>
>>378170471
Mafia is a genuine masterpiece. The details are still impressive even to this day, even the shooting still feels good compared to many modern games.
>>
>>378170471
too gamey
>>
because modern gaming is all about making quick cash-grabs
fuck putting effort into things
>>
>>378170684
I always liked Mafia's shooting as well, never understood why it was so rarely emulated.
>>
>>378170471
>you can get pulled over for speeding

that shit was fucking annoying

I think you need to learn some reading comprehension anon, why do you think I wrote "came up with" quotation marks you fucking retard?

I wasn't aware that people do this

That's just depressing

top 10 little touches in video games (in no order)

- bolt and ejection port on the correct side of the weapon
- shell casings that stay on the floor and make that wonderful jungle noise when they hit the floor
- bullet hole decals that don't vanish 10 seconds later
- if you reload when the mag is still has rounds you lose them
- shooting a car's tires make the car visibly tilt
- shooting barrels makes them leak
- when you look down you can see your own body
- functioning mirrors
- shooting a guy in the arm makes him drop his weapon or the leg makes him fall down/limp
- flushable toilets and working sinks

He shilled his game here when he first pitched it up until /v/ made him cry and fucked off to reddit. I'm not even suprised he used the fucking mgs 2 ice example either.
>>
>>378171606
>if you reload when the mag is still has rounds you lose them
This one's annoying. You should at least keep the partial magazine to reload with later
>>
>>378171403
IRL I'll crank the handbrake till my car squeals like a pig.
In a game? Jesus no. I don't buckle my seatbelt in game either.
>>
>>378170471
>reloading with a partial magazine causes you to lose the rest of your ammo
>TECHNOLOGY
Are you retarded or just completely clueless about programming?
>>
>>378171681
>seatbelt in game

name 1 game
>>
>>378171718
It's not actual technology, it's TECHNOLOGY.
>>
>>378171803
That's my point.
>>
>>378171845
Ok, I get it now. It's a funny meemee.
>>
>>378171681
for a game it's not about being safe or real. its about parking a car on a hill and not using the parking brake so it rolls down on hill on purpose and starts a disaster, because in a video game you can just go steal another car. same for a seat belt, you can buckle up if you want or if not just crash into things like gta4 and watch niko go flying and doing fun little stunts.
>>
>>378171803
I really with you had the option for a seatbelt in modern GTAs.

It could be like putting on a helmet on a motorcycle, just sit in the car for a few seconds before you start driving then you don't have to worry about being launched through your windshield
>>
>>378172040
But it actually means something.
Would you feel better if it was PROGRAMMING?
>>
>>378172063
Now that's actually pretty funny. Never played Mafia so I think I'll pick it up.
>>
>>378171403
Same mate, doing that seems terrifying as fuck, also, park in first gear.
>>
>>378172143
No, I just wasn't caught up on the latest spin on the TECHNOLOGY meme.
>>
>>378172065
GTAV has this exact feature. How the fuck have you not noticed
>>
>>378173275
You can't wear a seatbelt in GTA V
>>
>>378173498
maybe try playing the fucking game
>>
>>378171718
What's even worse is that if it was a properly polished feature, you'd actually KEEP the partially loaded mags which would be usable later, like in ARMA.

I'd rather have the standard system than to have my character just throw away tens and tens of rounds for no reason.
>>
Killing floor 2 has 4 different reload animations for most of the guns. One for if you reload from a partial, and one where you reload from an empty mag, and then the tactical reload versions of the above. Partial mags are retained for later use.
>>
>>378173885
>Partial mags are retained for later use.

Red Orchestra 2 and Rising Storm does this as well. Also multi reload animations and ammo check animations.
>>
>>378173885
I love how they spent their time making and polishing weapons and then realized they need to make a game.
>>
>>378171403
What's the point in doing it with an auto?
>>
>>378173275
>>378173579
There are no seatbelts in GTA. People keep claiming there are, but there aren't.
>>
>>378174356
you must be a really bored individual
>>
>>378171670
You know, that's a valid point. I don't think a single game does this
>>
>>378173885
Except KF2 animations are artificially elongated so there's no difference between reloading with a chambered round.
>>
>>378174419
see >>378173885
and >>378174103
>>
>>378174103
>>378173885
Well looks like I was wrong. Few games do do this.
>>
>>378174328
handbrake is necessary for steep inclines even in auto, it's far stronger
>>
>>378174549

It really punishes spam reloading.

>playing RO2 last night since it's free on humble
>spam reloading like a mother fucker every few rounds
>it's fucking Fallen Fighters, worst map in the game
>sneak up around the opposite side near A as a Russian with PPSh-42
>Two Jerries run out of spawn
>open fire and recoil fucks me up
>think I hit one, duck down to avoid being shot by the other
>reload
>jump up to shoot the other
>3 bullets come out then click click click
>mfw put a fucking nearly empty mag back in then got fucken killed
>>
>>378174848
What would happen if you inclined with out the handy dandy on an auto? What would get damaged? I live in a rather flat area so I do not know any of this
>>
>>378171803
gta4
>>
>>378174940
My lord. That's fucking disgusting, in a good way I mean.
>>
>>378174538
Swat 4 at least also does that.
>>
>>378175079
depending on combination of brake pad quality, parking brake pressure, vehicle weight, and degree of incline, the brake can simply fail due to excess force and your car rolls down the hill
source: used to live near a steep residential street that had periodic signage warning street parkers to use the handbrake

it didn't go around if you panned like GTA does, to get the camera to face the front of your car you need to go in reverse

>>378170471
>>reloading with a partial magazine causes you to lose the rest of your ammo

sounds the opposite of technology, why would you toss a partial magazine away?
>>
>>378176813
It's a game mechanic supposed to put some pressure into you being accurate and efficient and quit reloading every 3 bullets shot.

I think it worked well in Mafia, sometimes you get those decisive moments where you don't know if 10 bullets in the tommygun are enough.
>>
>>378176813
makes perfect sense. ammo is dumped on the floor. more a flaw on the part of the character than the developers.

Fucking retarded babies.
>>
>>378170752

you literally have the option to automatically cap car speed at the legal threshold

other games still manage this while keeping your partial mag, but i can see your point
>>378177210
makes sense

Huh, good to know. Thanks for the info my man
>>
>>378171285
in real life you cant ignite fuel tanks with small arms fire
>>
>>378179790
He's saying a full fuel tank can't blow up, since there's not enough oxygen in the tank.
