It's like if XC was set on the titans but they weren't story related at all. Okay, that's pretty neat but outside of that it's uninteresting, at least to me. I was so bummed out once I learned that all that cool shit on mira - the giant flower, the giant ring, the golden structures, the towering sentry robots - they're all unexplained.

Most people didn't. But I feel like it's useless criticism when X came about because of a number of reasons. There's more reasons for the lack of story than just "lmao let's not have one". Some reasons in interviews include;
>cutscenes are expensive, making story heavy games expensive
>HD development is also hard
>they didn't want to overwhelm themselves doing a story heavy game on a format they weren't familiar with (see: Xenosaga with 3d games) so they made something within their means

I guess what I'm saying is there weren't going to be circumstances that allowed X to be hugely story-driven game that people want from the series. Personally I think it was a waste of a setting and genre, but Takahashi will return to sci-fi eventually.

The trailer for Xenoblade 2 didn't show much. It's hard to have a solid opinion. It's still one of the very few upcoming jrpgs I care about. The genre sucks for the most part now.
