There's no reason to ever get a console, unless you need to play games day one.

They will eventually get ported, or you will just be able to emulate them anyway, and if they aren't worth playing years later, they weren't worth playing in the first place.

I bought mine mostly for Disgaea and Persona, but now I mostly use it for watching stuff in bed. With the Plex app, you watch whatever video files you have on your computer on your PS4 without any effort. Being able to plug headphones directly into the controller is a nice perk because my hearing is shit and prefer using headphones over speakers. I'd say its worth it just for that.

Probably not. I don't remember what I wrote in the thread. It was just a memorable thread a it was an odd thing to have accomplished at the time. I was impressed though.

For the record completing Bloodborne in 10 days isn't impressive. Especially the way you overlevelled and actually did use a guide for some parts. I'm not saying it's not wrong to have done those thing as people can play the game how they want, but it lessens the overall achievement that you feel you accomploished.

Physical has been dead on PC for something like a decade. Most PC games you get at a brick and mortar store are just steam keys. Steam has basically replaced almost everything. It cooled my enthusiasm for pc gaming not long after steam was first released and I saw more and more game companies going digital and just giving you a box with key inside. PC games used to have good physical releases. I have fond memories of the huge manuals my rpg's and rts's would come with and reading them on the way home or before bed. Pity at what it has become.

My argument re: overlevelling came about because people initially went ballistic that I was level 30-40 as I'd reached the forest. I was bored playing the main story so I decided to do chalice dungeons (and admittedly some hard farming on vicar amelia for lots of echoes), because that was the only enjoyment I was getting from the game. It was also meant as a fuck you to the naysayers telling me how I can and can't play the game - I found it odd that I was being criticised for levelling up in an RPG mainly.

I subsequently then went onto just finish it for completionists sake as much as anything. When I got to very near the end I realised I was 5 trophies short - the 3 endings, which boss to kill in chalice dungeons and needing all weapons. I used the guide to ensure I could get the 3 endings, I was already in the dungeon I needed to be in to get the trophy at that stage and I realised I needed to get the weapon off that women quite early on (easiest way was killing her, can't remember who or what she's called). It's not like I cheesed the entire game and probably did less online checks than your average player.

Irrespective I agree with you, I don't think it was a hard achievement, that was really my point - it was a direct response to the 'git gud' crew who had berated me for daring to criticise the game.

Honestly I'd say level 30-40 after reaching the forest is normal. When I first went through the game I went into the Father Logarius Castle section at around level 40 before the forest so ended up there at about level 60.

I think the Chalice dungeons were one of the best parts of the game - especially with a co-op partner - but I did find it odd that if you didn't play them as you unlocked them, then you'd be too over-levelled for the first few. They really should have balanced the Chalice dungeons so that you couldn't over-level your character in the main game but then they'd run into other problems.

I don't think anyone who is a fan of Bloodborne is really part of the git gud crowd. That's more a PC Dark Souls thing that naturally carried over, but anyone worth their salt would know Bloodborne isn't particularly hard once you get used to it. I'd recommend the DLC as that has some fantastic level design and a properly ramped up challenge compared to the main game. Or just watch DSP play it to get some laughs.

It's not for everyone, though.

Just beat the blob boss in GR2 (last one I think but there's something after credits too). The combat is awful, the camera is awful, the camera has way too much motion blur and smoothing to it.

I'll try to avoid multiplayer games on PS4 because fuck having to pay another fee for online, but I do want to play games that either perform better on PS4 (as opposed to PS3 and Vita) or are exclusive to the console. Without exclusives, though, I wouldn't touch any console. I've got some games on a list somewhere that I want to get when I decide to finally spend money on a PS4, and Bloodborne is like near the bottom of the list. It's mostly JRPGs that I want to play on it.
