Yes, but having a d-pad over four buttons may not have the same feel as just having the d-pad on a rubber membrane. It's basically adding another layer unless the buttons we see in >>378054845 are the rubber membrane. Even then, there's the plastic surrounding the buttons.
In addition, if the d-pad does not lock into place and turns easily enough, it can lead to a problem where players are pressing diagonally instead of in a cardinal direction because they did not notice it moved from position.
