Nah, got to go with a boomstick as my gunfu

Also, I'm going through Bioshock 2 now on the hardest difficulty, what's the best way to take down a Big Daddy? So far, I'm just attaching trap rivets and mines to a barrel before throwing it at him.

It's the only way I can explore in peace due to Splicers respawning every 10 seconds. Yeah, there's the Big Daddy suit that stops enemy aggro, but fuck walking around with that claustrophobic viewport.

I tried it, and there was nothing "remastered" about it. Hell, there were more bugs than the original, such as Grace Holloway clipping on her chair when you meet her.

>some of the enemy designs were great though.

Actually one of my biggest criticisms for Bioshock 1 & 2 is that they didn't go nearly far enough or out there with the Splicer designs. They all just looked like slightly deformed people. They should have had splicers that were so fucked up and spliced they didn't even resemble humans at all anymore. Tentacles and multiple mouths, eyes, limbs, heads and shit like that. Something like the centaurs from the Fallout games.
>>
>>377984634
Its just a good name
>>
>>377984891
Not him but that'd be going a bit too far. I agree enemy designs were very underwhelming but that was mainly due to the focus being directed toward other shit, like the big daddies, bajillion plasmids, guns, gun upgrades, which was quite a bit for a game that looked like that back in 2007. Making them more lovecraftian abominations would certainly add variety but it'd go against the theme of 1950s objectivism gone fucking haywire underwater.

Post your ideas for a new BioShock.

>Set in the 80s/90s, in a version of the US where Plasmids/Vigors/Gene Tonics have become commonplace and everyone uses them
>Weapon system similar to Burial At Sea's (You have a weapons wheel but can alternate between 2 weapons with the tap of a button)

As someone who played both System Shock and Bioshock;

They really aren't the same kind of game. Their similarities are only very surface level. Please stop comparing them, there's room enough for both. Thank you.
>>
I played through Bioshock 1 so many times back in the day. I almost could speedrun it.
Bioshock 2 might've had not as much of a good story, but the overall gunplay improvements were very much welcome. Minerva's Den was also pretty cool.
If there was some way to put in the gunplay of 2 into 1 I'd be pretty damn happy.

Infinite failed in delivering a solid atmosphere/environment compared to its predecessors - anyone who's played the original Bioshock will know what I'm talking about, that intro level alone gets you deeply connected into the world of Rapture and the game's story as a whole - Infinite had none of that. By the time I got to that beach level, I had to take a step back and ask myself why the hell did the last 30 minutes of gameplay come from watching NPCs doing dance moves and eating cotton candy, it just felt so artificial, like the devs were trying to force you to care about the city's citizens. By the end of Infinite, I didn't feel any emotion towards Comstock or Elizabeth. Ironically, the only time I actually cared about Infinite was at the end when you visit Rapture again, and you can tell that it was only shoehorned into the game as a cheap method to squeeze nostalgia out of diehard fans

Thanks Ken, the Godfather Part 3 version of the Bioshock series was made right before your eyes, and you didn't even bother trying to stop it.

>>
Why would a big daddy who was built to use plasmids, and had used them in the past, have the same physiological reaction to plasmid installation as a human using plasmids for the first time?
>>
>>377990791

What happened was the game dropped you literally head first into the action with no real clear reason why and it slowly built on mystery, suspense, and action all the way to the ending where you had no clue what was going to come next or what was beyond the next door. Everything was unique.

Infinite was the opposite. What made Bioshock great was the story and the atmosphere with the decent gameplay. Take away those and it's just a barely mediocre FPS.

>We could have gotten a spooky turn-of-the-century inspired city with a unique atmosphere and setting that would be unlike anything we've ever seen before
>We could have gotten a story with a bunch of subtle political undertones and messages about the dangers of taking American exceptionalism/worker's rights too far
>We could have gotten an Elizabeth whose powers were more mystical and whose tears actually caused problems down the line if you used them too much
>We could have gotten a relationship between Elizabeth and Booker that feels natural, instead of whatever the fuck they were in the finished game
>We could have gotten a much more open world to explore and much more choices in terms of gameplay, loadouts, narrative choices, etc
>We could have gotten all sorts of terrifying and unsettling enemies that would put the splicers of BioShock 1 to shame

>Instead, all of that was scrapped for linear storytelling, generic FPS combat, and a shitty twist ending that doesn't even make sense when you think about it for more than 2 seconds

Seriously, what the fuck happened?

because plasmids have physiological effects on people regardless of how many times they've used it

I always disliked the 'Bioshock is a message on how unrestrained capitalism will ruin everything'.

From the audio logs, technology, and art and culture of the place Rapture was actually doing great until Fontaine started to fuck it up by instigating class warfare and supporting crime and civil war. If anything it only 'proves' that a libertarian society would be incredible. Same as Infinite, the society does not have a serious problem until Booker/Elizabeth starts to fuck it up and help drive forward the Vox.

No. It proves it's extremely vulnerable to people like Fontaine, who can't be dealt with effectively without breaking the ethics of libertarianism.

That's like saying Animal Farm is claiming that socialism works when led by people like Snowball, when the actual point is that it's always going to be vulnerable to people like Napoleon.

Currently replaying the remastered 1st one and nearing end.

Why does it make me play the dumb hacking minigame every 5 seconds? Combat is all right but too simple, it's getting little boring. Hate the "no inventory" system. Level design isn't great or memorable.

Atmosphere, story and art still hold up.

>>
>>377997058

What do you like about the sequel's gameplay better than 1, anon?

I preferred the hacking in 2. 1's was so broken on PC, and absolutely raped the gameplay flow. I liked System Shock 2's the best out of the shock games I've played.
>>
>>377992572
Holy shit, was ANY of the content in that video in the final game?
>>
>>377997058

I disagree.

Making more things happen at once and more hectic does not necessarily make the game better.

Plasmids and ammo are supposed to be a resource. While Bioshock isn't really much of a survival horror game, some elements of that come from resources scarcity. Your Eve gives you an advantage in combat against tougher, faster foes and it takes a second to switch from gun to plasmid and using it. This is a good thing, it creates more tension in fights and is part of the windup. Bioshock 2 having guns AND plasmids at the same time ruined this. Additionally, the hacking minigame in Bioshock 2 was also worse because things got way too hectic when hacking while fighting, but I did like that if you aimed for the special blue bars you would get better rewards.

Personally I loved the pipe mania minigame from Bioshock 1 but having special powerups among the blocks that 'if your pipes go through here you get a bonus' would have been nice.

To be fair, Rapture did have laws and rules, ie don't bring a bunch of illegal contraband from the surface to Rapture, which Fontaine broke. Everything might've worked fine if everyone had followed the rules
>>
Bioshock' moral choice system would've worked better if saving little sisters gave pathetic amounts of Adam, and you wouldn't get rewards after every three saved.

So the endgame character equipped with crazy powerful plasmids and tonics would only be possible through harvesting. It ties the narrative thread of "Adam degrades your humanity" into character progression, and making the good ending more valuable.
>>
>>377999014
Yeah but that's not accessible for mouthbreathers, which is how BioShock was designed.

If the game was actually difficult to beat to get the good ending people would have hated it. The average mouthbreather wants to be able to carry out his black & white moral choice and have the ability to get the good ending without any effort.
