They definitely mention Papa/Brother Nier in the end game documents you get, at least in reference to there being an original first Gestalt if not by name.

The library scene was fantastic
and the way Nier 1 and 2 are connected by only a drama CD felt a little weird but I guess it's in style for a joke to bridge those together and nothing more
