What do you mean op?
>>
>>377890696
you can probably find more detailed steps on wololo or something, but it's pretty straightforward. 3.60 or lower only. from stock:

>update to 3.60 using USB
>go to henkaku.xyz via the browser
>open molecular shell app, use FTP to send vitashell to your PSTV
>install vitashell
>open vitashell, plug in USB
>click "mount uma0" and then "mount uma0 as ux0"

and presto, your inserted USB stick is now a PSTV memory card.

Vita's problem is that it doesn't have a "killer app" or whatever kids call it these days but instead has a strong third party offering that ultimately won't really get anyone to buy the portables just for those. Also, nothing really flexed its muscles since launch when Uncharted and Killzone looked really fucking good.

What? I have Killzone and it does not heat up the system
if the visual effects start to load the engine too much, the game drops the resolution to 3DS levels to keep load and framerate stable

Same goes for Uncharted btw

Update: Yifanlu has posted significant concerns about the possibility of such an adapter being real (or, if it is real, questioning its usefulness). His doubts are based on former research from vita hackers, in particular motoharu, which indicates the psvita memory card might not be compatible with the SD protocol, and/or might use security that couldn’t easily be bypassed with a simple adapter. Additionally, the hacker shared concerns on how articles like this one contribute to spread unverified rumors for such hacks. So, take all of the above with a pinch of salt, I guess, while I’ll go cry in a corner after this severe burn. Joke aside, Yifanlu makes very compelling points and you can read his take on reddit here.

Media and region restrictions are the biggest fucking dick-punch to society ever.

Look, I don't care if you steal, I'm not even the other anon you're talking to but stop using this half assed apologies.
I know japanese and bought many japanese games even though they weren't localized or advertised where I live, since the PS2 days, and I enjoyed them, does that make them less worthy of a handful of bucks only because they're not advertised or localised? No, they're good products and I enjoyed them, people have worked on them and they deserve to be payed for that, even more so due to the fact that I had fun with those games.
I don't have to beg for games to get localized, I know enough languages to play the vast majority of them with no problems and nowadays there's hardly any real barrier in commerce that makes it truly had to get a game, unless we're talking about Korea, there's much better arguments in favour of piracy than "Hurr, they didn't publish it in my region, they don't want or deserve my money anyway".

Easy-peasy. PSP games you can get from emuparadise and there are various forums/sites devoted to Vita games. Also reddit is a good source of verified working Vita games.
>>
>>377893796
Don't forget vita's basically perfect d-pad and great screen (1k).
Also psp on vita can't be beat so

>>
>>377893796
Its 240p screen leaves pixel art looking nice and crisp, with no need for upscaling whatsoever. Not to mention it has native GBA and DS support along with Nintendo's official emulators.
>>
>>377893579
My time is worth money too.
I'd happily buy them if they never made it an effort, just like millions of others would watch things if they weren't restricted by virtual borders. (even more literal today than a few decades back)

This is the only reason this type of piracy exists.
Just like how supermarkets are more popular than farmers markets. (note that I actually do prefer the latter, fuck supermarkets)

Region restrictions only harms media.
It doesn't do anything to boost profits, not in any serious long-term.
But executives never care about that. They only care about the very near-term.
This is especially true in games. Execs don't give a single fuck about sales outside of the 1st week or month, depending on company.
Anything outside of those periods is gravy.
Films are only slightly better, but worse off because of artificial limitation of media. (cinema, bid-wars for digital box office broadcasts, discs, then TV after 25 trillion years)

And yes, right now I am working. Working very hard :^)

Except you risk getting your PSN account banned. Spoofing on PS3 gets your account banned for instance, the hell would you want to risk it here too? Yeah, it might not happen often but there's a chance for it. Keep in mind this isn't Nintendo who let shit slide constantly and only ban you from that specific game, this is Sony who works like Microsoft in terms of no tolerance for online + a hacked system.

PSP was like the only time where it was pretty safe to have an online account attached to the thing while also having CFW on it and even then you should have been worried.

The one that came out on 2015 right? They're re-releasing it localized right now from what I understand, aren't there gonna be any extras?

I saw P5 for PS3 being released in english the other day so I assume they managed to pull the translation from PS4. But then again, Persona is a major franchise, Utawarerumono not so much, might fly under translators radars.

Still in the middle of playing the 1st one with voices patch. Literally the best VN I've played so far but that's because the gameplay elements are a welcome break from text hell.

There was a fucking huge window to hack the Vita last year. The line was "IT'S FUCKING NOTHING" and straight out denial by Vita/Sony fanboys.

Vita was pulled from stores April 2016 so anyone who finds a western Vita/PSTV still new in box can hack. Japanese imports and used consoles are most likely going to be updated.

>>
if you hack it you can only play games that are like a year old or older. I want to play the lost child, or utawarerumono. Also the emulators are all shit, worse than PSP for pretty much everything, so I'll stick to having a legit vita and a hacked PSP. cheaper, better battery life, better compatibility overall.
>>
>>377890343
Danganronpas are really good VNs specially if you like animay
Steins;Gate is also an excellent one
Thats like 100 hours of games there
After that you have Persona 4 Golden, the game I bought a Vita for (also like 80 hours long) and one of the best games I have ever played.
Then you have the first party games Sony released which show the capabilities of the Vita hardware (Killzone, Uncharted, Wipeout HD)
You also have cross play games with PS4 like God Eater 2, and also games that are on both platforms like Fate/Extella, Dragon Quest Builders, World of Final Fantasy
>>
>>377890343
Get all the Vanillaware games (Dragon's Crown, Muramasa and its DLC (which are arguably better than the main game, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir). Outside of fps drops if you have a 4 mage team in DC, they're the best thing you can get on the Vita, it's like they're tailored for it.

I got both but I'm gonna sell my 1000 soon.
>>
>>377913918
Not him, but I had a 1000 from day 1 and bought a 2000 a few weeks ago.

The Slim is better in every aspecy except for the screen.

D-Pad and front buttons are the same.

Sticks are firmer and more responsive.
Shoulder Buttons are more clicky.
PS, Start and Select are easier to press.
Smaller backtouch and bigger grips make it more comfortable.
Battery last noticeably longer.
The weight and size are really an improvement.

Id say if you use it at home use an OLED but if you use it as a portable use a 2000.

Then again, if you only use it as home you might as well get a PSTV instead.
>>
I have a vita but haven't tried to hack it
>>
>>377914220
That said, Shoulder buttons and Sticks might feel better because of the mileage my 1000 has.

But I never felt the sticks this responsive and the shoulders so clicky before.

Same goes for the battery duration, it probably feels a lot more than it should since its a brand new battery vs a battery with a lot of charges on it.

As easy as PSP? Because that shit is literally free. A hacked PSP Go is easily one of the best choices for a handheld, by far.
>>
What's a convenient size of USB memory to get if I get a Vita TV? What's the average size of the games?
>>
>>377892498
Yes but my experience with it has been awful. In general, I try to avoid games with heavy use of multiple shoulder buttons.
>>
>>377914878
All it takes to hack it is having FW 3.60 (you cant drowngrade from FW 3.61+) and entering henkaku.xyz website from the Vita browser.

Then you install the Offline Installer (so you can do it offiline), VitaShell (to browse vita content via USB), MaiDumpTool (to install games) and AdrenalineEasyInstaller (to play PSP and PS1 games)

Then you have other emus if you are interested in that kind of stuff.
>>
>>377915035
Depends on the game.

It ranges from 500mb to 5GB.

But with a 60GB stick you have more than enough room to have PSP PS1 EMUS and around 20-40 Vita games installed at any given time.

Alright yall, if I do decide to bite the bullet is there any difference between the standard or slim model I should know about? Or should I get a PSP3000? Mostly for PS1/PSP games.
>>
>>377929717
The slim is superior with the exception of more vibrancy in the original's OLED screen. The PSP3000/PSPGo (preferred) is much more cost effective if you're not going to play Vita games though.

1000 model:
-Better Screen

-2.5GB of internal memory to dump roms into.

2000 model:
-Better Battery, my 2000 lasts almost as twice as my 1000, but thats because I used my 1000 A LOT.

-Better sticks,1000 model sticks feel loose compared with the 2000 model, they seem to respond better to minor movements because of that.

-Better shoulde buttons, the pieces they use are the same, but 2000 shoulders are more clicky so they feel better when pressed since you have tactile feedback.

-Slimmer and lighter, its really noticeable when compared side by side, 2000 model is way more portable.

-It has 1GB of internal battery, the 1000model has a 2.5GB ur0 partition and the 2000 model has a 1.5GB ur0 partition with 1GB used as a mounted ux0 partition that is not accesible if you insert a memory card.

1000 is better if you can get one brand new and dont use it outside of your house much (due the increased size, weight and lower battery duration), 2000 is better if you value portability.

If you are just going to use one in your home you might as well consider the PS TV, since its cheaper and you can mount USB or external HDD drives into it to use in place of memory cards.

That said, if you dont care much about the Vita library (pic related is pretty much all you will have unless you are interested in ultra weebshit), you should go with the PSP Go, its small, it has a smaller screen so PSP games look sharper, has 16GB internal memory and its way cheaper.

Not him but good to see that description. I have the 1000 but just ordered the 2000. Also you forgot your pic.

>>377889954
Can't find one at a reasonable price.
found one for 648 euros, but fuck that shit.
>>
>>377930293
They can be had cheaper. I got an official Sony refurb for $100CAD a while ago. I'm sure there's an official American source for refurb's for like $80 or something.

really? i mean, except disgaea, persona 4, and bunch of super weaboo vidya is there anything worthwile to play?

I would love to buy a vita and make it a comfy bedside emulator, but i don't know about how homebrew-friendly it is. I guess my small collection of old consoles with 14" crt tv is comfy enough anyway.

they actually put an unusually significant amount of effort into fixing bugs in the firmware

Shit, I just skimmed eBay. I can still buy these, and resell them with Henkaku loaded up for $150-$200USD, netting myself $50-$100CAD profit...
>>

There is a way to download PSP demo from the web store and transfer it using QCMA.

You don't even need a PSP demo because there is now an ePSP bubble creator. Instead of downloading a real PSP game to use its license, there is a homebrew app to install a bubble/license directly.
>>
>>377933294
>but i don't know about how homebrew-friendly it is
You only need one requirement (assuming you already have a memory card) and that's OFC 3.60. Then you just head to a website on the vita that does the homebrew stuff.
If you know how to use a file manager and FTP, you're fine.

>>377931223
I dont know what the difference is with regards to power consiption but I just replaced my launch Vita 1000 battery. I havent tested how long it takes to get from full charge to low battery though
>>
>>377933886
Some anons figured out you can just push a thumbdrive into the memory card slot. You just need a lot of force.

Or he's saying that people on /v/ are actually from reddit because it's such shit here.

Remember that I'm on 3.63. I can use ARK apparently, but not Henkaku.

Oh RIP bro
>>
>>377934417
The 2000 battery last longer mainly because its minimum brightness is way lower than the 1000 minimum brightness.

1000 minimum brightness is like 2/5 of the slider of the 2000 brightness and both have the same maximum brightness.

OLED screen probably consumes more energy too.

Download the PSP game from your PS3 and copy it to your Vita from there.

3.60 OLED Vita with 16gb card ~150€ Y/N?
Or should I get a new one for a bit more money?

>>377937045
That's a bit much. Only pay that much if they include a 32 or 64GB.

Looks like a decent price, though I made a much better deal myself back in the days for the same stuff at 120€, brand new.
