If you don't mind turn-based combat, I'd recommend pretty much any of the SaGa games except maybe Unlimited.

I remember the first time I played Gravity Rush being one of the first times in a long while that I had fun playing a game just because of the mechanics. Flying around and gravity sliding everywhere was a blast.

That along with Super Mario Sunshine and Infamous SS are some of the few games that I would turn on just to jump around the world for a half hour. Honestly if more open-world game had fun ways of getting across the world I wouldn't hate them so much.
