they'll get the cash shop right
>>
>>377858459
GTA 5 was fucking terrible. The three characters gimmick was a huge mistake. Instead of one bland character, there are now three even blander characters who won't stay dressed in the outfits I buy them.
>>
>mfw I'm a normie pleb that /v/ fucking hates
GTA V is fucking awesome, IV fucking sucks
don't come at me, fuckers
>>
>>377858459

4 was pretty awful. I've had 5 sitting in my library for like a year and still haven't opened it.
>>
>>377858459
GTA 6??? YOU MEAN GTA ONLINE 2 RIGHT.
>>
>>377858694
Fucking this.

Also, only certain characters can wear certain clothing, there's no car insurance in sp (making bought vehicles useless, except in Director Mode), and the unused locations.
>>
>>377858459
>Good gameplay

Maybe in online. In story mode this game absolutely hates people who want to have fun.

Tuned a car? Exit it turn around and walk 5 meters and it disappears forever because recovery garage is filled with cars you stole from the street

Wanna do some high speed jumps? Fuck you, your car will blow up if you don't land on 4 wheels or you'll go through the windshield and die.

Wanna fuck around with police? They have insane aimbot and cheat to find you.

Wanna do some jumps on a bike? You'll die on landing because muh realism

And there's more.
>>
>>377858459
They did. It's called San Andreas
>>
>>377859294
??
The cars in GTA 5 are near indestructible.
>>
>>377859402
My only gripe with SA is how cars explode if they sit upside down.
>>
>>377859437
No, they aren't. Try doing a stunt jump and not landing perfectly. 9/10 you'll explode.
>>
>>377859437
Not in story mode. They made them much tougher In online because they realized how not fun they are in story mode. They removed going through the windshield in online too
>>
>>377859742
>>377859552
I have less than 2 hours in online.
I've never noticed this problem in story mode
>>
>>377860089
You must be good at landing jumps, then. Do you have the issue with dying while doing bike jumps/stunts?
>>

fuck this thread. I was considering to reinstall this and free roam as trevor but my hope is gone and i fucking hate online. at least i finished it once
>>
>>377860357
Once is more than enough. I played it twice, and did 100% the second time. I hate myself for it.
>>
>>377858459
Yeah no racist, Mafia III has better gameplay than any shit GTA game
>>
IV's story was pretty shitty though. It was meandering odd-jobs for the first two-thirds of the plot.

Not that V's is any better
>>
GTA V story was overly focused on satire. Seems like everything was set up only to pay off as le funny statement about modern America.
>>
>>377860219
it depends on the angle of your landing

of course if you're just falling straight down you're gonna bust your ass
>>
GTA IV has a terrible story purely by virtue of the fact that it's a gritty and realistic "crime never pays" plot in a series of over-the-top games about climbing the criminal ladder and inevitably setting yourself as the top dog in whatever city it takes place in at the time.
>>
>>377860910
How would anyone know that?
>>
>>377860089
Yeah, I dunno what you guys are talking about.
I just threw Michael's car off Mt. Chilliad and it was still driveable at the end
>>
>>377861274
>hurr why isn't every Gta, Scarface?
Pleb autismo
>>
>>377861364
Let me upload the video, BRB
>>
>>377861085
the difference with satire between 4 and 5 was that it seeped into the main story of 5. in 4 it was always there in the background, it just chilled out when it came to the story.
>>
>>377861364
Landing on the front end, back end, or roof will make the car explode.

Nobody said it was impossible to safely drive down Mt. Chiliad.

Say what you will, but San Andreas basically wrote the book on how to make a perfect escalation of the stakes as the missions went on. It's not just about the tone of the story, that sort of thing directly influenced gameplay progression. As your criminal profile grew you kept getting entangled into bigger and bigger jobs, culminating on the casino heist at the latter third of the game. All of which in turn kept rewarding you with better safehouses, money, more options in character customization, etc. etc.

By comparison, IV had a really, REALLY pallid scale of progression. Thankfully V was better in this regard, though it then went and dropped the ball in other, equally important aspects.
>>
>>377861972
>V was better in this regard
Good one.
>>
>>377861972
>As your criminal profile grew you kept getting entangled into bigger and bigger jobs, culminating on the casino heist at the latter third of the game
Ok, the same thing happened with IV? Did you forget about the bank?

>San Andreas
>Good Gameplay

Good joke. I went back and tried to play San Andreas again, it's a fucking joke how bad that game controls. I honestly don't know how I liked it so much, it's fucking shit.
>>
>>377861274
I'm with this guy, even Saint's Row 2 had a better moral stance on "power at any cost."
>>377861391
If your game is about being an amoral power accumulator, it behooves you to write a story that treats your goal with something above contempt.
>>
>>377862287
I think you confused SA with VC.
>>

>>
>>377862798
You consistently get nothing for progressing. You finish the first act in a worse financial state (regardless of your actual money, lolz), you never seem to get above hand-to-mouth crime, and by the endgame the few characters you do have rallying around you fucking implode.
In order to do a story about power corrupting, you have to actually obtain power. In order to do a story about the meaninglessness of struggle, you have to finally show the character ascend to enlightenment. To do a story about the consequence of violence you have to revisit those consequences, not have a LOL DRIVE-BY pop up.
And frankly, to do any of those stories, you have to not be GTA.
>>
>>377863106
Not him, but are you the same faggot that said V had better mission rewards?
>>
>>377863106
Ok I don't agree with you at all so I don't see the point in continuing this, bye senpai
>>
>>377863208
No. I disliked V for different reasons (faux-realism where it wasn't needed, poor menu design (or not using menus because muh phone)). V does do the "feeling of reward" better but in real terms it's the same old standard shit but with usability issues, and all the good stuff ended up as Online only anyway.
>>
>>377863208
I think you may be confusing him with me, and no, I didn't say it had better mission rewards necessarily, but that you kept getting tangled into more and more complex heists and power struggles as the missions went on.
IV had SOME escalation in the stakes, but I don't know how someone can say that it isn't a very tiny one when compared to the games that came both before and after it.
>>
>>377863459
>does the "feeling of reward" better
Yeah, I really enjoyed stealing all those cars for that rich prick and getting fuck all for it. The Bond car (with weapons enabled) would've been the perfect reward for them, but Jewstar blue balls the fuck out if the player until the very end, when there's little to do in the game.
>>
>>377863731
I know what you mean, but compare it to GTA4!
At least you get the sweet condo for Franklin, Michael finally gets some modicum of control over his family life and Trevor... Is Trevor.
(assuming you pick the only non-retard ending)
>>
How long until almost everything is destructible? It would be cool to be going 100 mph downhill in a dump truck and actually smash into/through a house instead of just instantly stopping. I know it would take a ton of resources to do this in a huge map but I can't help imagining.
>>
>>377863894
I'm not a fan of Franklin's condo.
>have to go downstairs to change clothing
>hard to tell where the glass is
>nigger music playing unless you turn on the tv
>Chop constantly shitting

>Michael
>control
Nearly every time I switch to Michael, he's getting stepped on by his family (I 100%-ed that shit game).
>>
>>377864280
It'll be a long time. V didn't even have fast food restaurant interiors, iirc.
>>
I could tolerate the writing and characters. I preferred them over the characters in VC. What fucked it was that we finally had this huge city, this massive countryside, this giant and beautiful world full of life, but there was so little to do. It was all window dressing. SA and IV were smaller but they still felt more truly alive than V. There's just so little outside of missions you can do to actually immerse yourself in city life.
>>
>>377864536
>shopping
>yoga, darts, tennis
>flying or submarine shit
>collect-a-thons
I can't believe people actually defend V.
>>
>>377864536
Seriously, what insane mind over at Rockstar decided to do away with Vigilante and Paramedic and Taxi missions? The bounty hunter/assassination missions were goat, but of course we couldn't get a random mode based off them because that would make the game too good.
>>
>>377861605
>he doesn't remember the Jack Thompson story mission
>>
>>377861274
Niko doesn't become a kingpin though. The absolute best he ever gets is a position as a second-string bodyguard to a laughingstock of a wannabe Jersey mob boss whom he promptly kills anyway.
>>
>>377858459
>good story
good chuckle
>>
>>377861972
>V
>good progression

No. Just no.

You start the game as a criminal with thousands in the bank with a list of contacts, and you end the game as a slightly wealthier criminal with a list of contacts.

IV legitimately had you starting from nothing and had you build your way up to becoming the most highly regarded hired gun in the underworld. Not to mention the way in which more of the city and it's service became available to you overtime as opposed to giving you almost everything from the start.

It's not as significant as SA's progression, but it's leagues above V.
>>
>>377863548
Those power struggles weren't complex at all.

70% of the game is dealing with the FIB conflict. That's a lot different from how IV went from the story of an immigrant trying to fit in, up to a full scale mob war.
