What's the purpose of Steam refunds if they never give you a refund when you need one?

For fuck's sake, this shit is downright anti-consumer, you shouldn't be restrained by some arbitrary amount of time in case you want to refund a game.
>>
>>377853897
Bait aside, Steam has a pretty good refund policy. I'm glad Valve decided to implement it.
>>
Those are the rules moron, should've read them.

I get refunds on stuff I've played for 1hr59m quite often. My most recent was Snake Pass
>>
>>377853897
You should be glad they are there in the first place would you want something like consoles with no refund policy?

What game and why did you take so long to file it?

"no"
It was a genuinely good game too, the problem I had with it was overall length. In my ~2hrs of playtime I got through 6/15 levels, not worth the $20 sticker. I'll gladly pay $5 for it when the price drops around there though.

if it took you more than 2 weeks to find out a game is bad, you dont deserve to refund it

>>
>>377853897
Why do you want a refund? If you call Steam support line and tell them the game doesn't work they will give you a refund regardless of how long you've played it.

Having unlimited refunds makes no sense for obvious reasons. Some games should have higher time limits, though. Especially if the game is hundreds of hours long. Download time should also not contribute to time played. I installed New Vegas a few weeks ago and was already at 25 minutes played before I even booted the game for the first time.
>>
>>377854453
if you live in europe they are required to refund you

They offer "refunds" purely to cover their asses from lawsuits, nothing more.

Publishers/Devs sometimes end up making a launcher you have to download first, which will then download your game. It artificially puts up the hours which in turn stops you from getting a refund.

Some companies refuse to do this though, as they love their fans too much. A friend told me about a company that respects their fans though, and would never do this practice. I think my buddy told me that the company was called Bethesda(?) and they have this really great game out called Skyrimâ„¢ or something. I don't know, check it out!

>you shouldn't be restrained by some arbitrary amount of time in case you want to refund a game.
A month is more than enough time to decide whether or not to return the item.

If the product wasn't defective or fraudulent a refund is ultimately a courtesy. Nice, but the idea that it should always be required is laughable.
>>
>>377853998
I once got a refund on a game I played for 2 to 3 hours. It's not so strict.

but can you run at 8 minutes per hour? if you can, you can outrun light
>>
>arbitrary times for refunds
no they aren't, 2 hours play time is enough to see if the game runs on your pc and is what you were expecting.
2 weeks is more than enough to refund a game even if you never played it, if you were an idiot and didn't refund in this period you deserve what you get.

hell steam even has refunded me things out of these conditions which makes me think this isn't the first time you have pulled this shit.

The refund policy is perfect. I don't play a lot of games in the first two weeks I have them, but I certainly don't buy full price games to put them in my backlog. If it's $30+, I'm playing it right away typically because it's something I really wanted. If it's total shit, refund it up. Only time I've refunded something so far was when I bought Anno 1404 on sale but I wanted the gold edition instead. They refunded it in like 12 hours which was nice because the sale was still going.

>>
The refund policy works just fine, I mean they give you a chance to take a bite or two of your food to figure out if its shit and to send it back. Do you expect to be able to eat the whole steak and then ask for a refund?
>>
The 2 hours window is intended as an opportunity to identify and attempt to troubleshoot problems. If a game doesn't launch? That's a refund. If a game launches but runs like shit by doing something like oh whitescreening constantly due to being made by a shitty chinese port shop and the user can't fix it? Refund it. I mean a retail store would refund it so long as you brought the receipt with it.

It's still a pretty strict window. 2 hours can go by quickly if you're making an honest effort to troubleshoot the problems you're having because YOU REALLY WANNA PLAY GAME. All the indie jackoffs making 30 minute long pretentious walking simulators funded by patreon and kickstarter campaigns who proced to weep salty tears over how they get a near 100% refund rate from players who"experienced" everything the game had to offer WITHIN the 2 hour refund window, well, fuck them. Make a game with actual substance you fucking film school dropouts.
