Honestly speaking, I do say it's the best, mostly cause I do love it's theme of freedom and the dark side of society.
That and the switch from social links to confidants. Honestly I feel the idea of forming mutual deals as part of building a relationship is a lot more realistic and engaging both story wise and gameplay wise. In 3 and 4 I honestly could give less of a crap about most of the links unless i really needed their arcana, but 5's confidants are not only useful, but honestly I felt more inclined to hang with them

Futaba's dungeon makes it pretty clear people of all sorts can have Palaces though. Given what we learn in mementos, even good or heroic people might have them. Would've been interesting to visit a truly benevolent person's Palace for some reason.

P3FES was my first Persona game so maybe I'm bias but it looks better than any other game, everything is clear and composed, Personas are always in the limelight (the camera doesn't constantly avoid having personas in view like in persona 5 for instance and the more focus on showing them moving may make battles take longer but it's more visually appealing).
The story is also my favourite of any Persona game, climbing Tartarus may get repetitive but I never minded. Even the palette swapped floors were fine by me because they were all nice to look at with interesting aesthetics and I preferred to spend my time in a battle rather than solving insultingly easy puzzles like in 5.

Still, P5 brings a LOT to fusion mechanics, party member usefulness, and that entire last arc including the final boss were fucking incredible. I can't pick between them.

Persona 4 was just mediocre in about every way and there were far too many slice of life events.

I hate the daily life sim bullshit and I wish confidants/social links would be erased for good.

What got me with 3's ending was when you're by yourself inside the moon and everyone you know is pouring their heart and soul for you, rooting you on harder than you really have any right to receive. It's especially meaningful since SEES was formed out of circumstance and the team didn't necessarily like each other (or you) for a good while. Seeing characters like Mitsuru and Junpei, who didn't start out liking you, grow from that to loving you and wishing you the best despite your differences in that critical moment killed me. That moment was flawlessly executed and I felt a genuine connection with the team. I became a total trainwreck.

Are you fucking high? Akihiko and Shinji had their own sections in the plot together. Fuuka was a bit weak, I admit, but every single character had their plot points dotted along the story outside of their obligatory joining scene where they just become tools afterward.

Having the main character personas evolve through their personal struggles that relate to the over-arching plot was a much better decision than having them evolve because they're happier about being a model, or that they're friends with the track team again. That just diminishes the importance of their personas and is one of the biggest problems P4 and 5 have. They separate the main characters development from the plot just to have them be social links, which doesn't impact the story in the least.

This means you have flimsy characters with set personality attributes that are never challenged or put into question, and even if they are no significance is made or it would mean more work for the development team and more line variety.

You better have a good argument to reply to this because if you want the last word you best make it a good one.

It was my first persona game and i thought it was kind of trashy. Lots of dialogue that could have easily been cut away, the music sucked and was grating, tedious dungeons. Im now in august in persona 3 portable and am finding it to be a much more enjoyable game. I enjoy how i get more free time to myself, the cast, and where the story is going even if its slower paced.
