Only hard limit is your SP. Once you get a couple of SP regen patches you can just rotate your party and keep everyone 'charged up' for as long as you want. The higher your level versus your enemy though, the lower the experience awarded. For this reason, I level grind in Palaces for actual leveling, because there are tougher enemies in them. Mementos is a money and item farm.
Ever since I started P3, I've always fallen into a habit of level grinding so much that I'm stupidly overleveled for everything. People have every right to criticise Tartarus, Mementos, and the TV world, but I for some reason find endlessly grinding those dungeons relaxing.

The murder mystery was comfy as hell for me. It was such a blast playing through Persona 4 on my Vita for three days straight locked in the darkness of my room. Small town, small group of great friends who felt like mine, great odd fantasy elements like the TV.

Then I tried playing FES on the PS3, and it was really boring. I think I got to the second major boss and I just stopped. Everything was slow, and I did not like that you couldn't control everybody. I have never played an RPG like that before where I couldn't control my members in a turn based system, and I wasn't ready to get used to it.So I played through the portable version and I was into it here and there. The scenes with Junpei and Chidori are the only things I even cared about, and then the weariness overwhelmed me right before I got to the final boss. So I never beat it, but I watched the movie and already know the story. I can't really say I liked it more than P4's story. The whole Dark Hour and why and how it was created just sounded like nonsense to me even with the humanity subconsciousness rubbish overarching it all.

But then I played Persona 5, and even though it took that concept to a greater extent it had a lot of things to fall back on that I really loved.
