What's really strange is that here entire Confidant arc is focused around someone else entirely, to the point where it almost feels like you're romancing that other character.

At one point you have to get a stat check again in the middle of the arc, and this time for max charm, and it's not at the request of Makoto, but this other character.

Even in Rank 10 Romance event,

Makoto on the other hand didn't really shine in any light aside from being a secondary healer.

I just finished Madarame's palace on my NG+ run so my first and foremost priority is just getting enough money for Satanel. I want to go for Hifumi to finish what I started but I am really curious in romancing either Futaba or Makoto this playthrough too since I want to see how the relationship dynamic feels when it's between Joker and a female party member.

Also does anyone have any recommendations in a decent Arsene moveset or just effectively leveling him up? I have a spare Growth 3 card but I heard Gallows is better, even if its just once a day. I already got him a resistance for bless and ice. He's just too fucking cool looking for me not to use.

Salvation isn't good. It saves you time or a turn at the cost of 48 SP. And I imagine most people would use a slot for that instead of Mediarahan, which costs 30 SP (18 SP less), but doesn't have the status recover (still heals for the same amount). This means you're always burning a ton of SP for an all-heal in battle, or you have both and lose a slot of something else.

It's better to just have the status heals separate. Me Patra (Morgana) takes care of the basic stuff, Dizzy/Forget/Sleep/Hunger, and Energy Shower (Makoto) takes care of the worse, more critical shit, Confuse/Fear/Despair/Rage/Brainwash. Either only cost 8 SP, and you're pretty much never in a situation where you would need to do both at the same time. If you're really worried about it, you could have Amrita Drop (Haru), which only costs 12 SP, or better yet, just grab some items that take care of this shit.

Basically it's much better to invest in Makoto's Damage output and her efficient heal spells, with deep SP pool, than to rely on Morgana' only slightly better heal spells, which defeat themselves with their greater cost anyway, and his ultimately weak magic (Nuke is a much more common weakness in this game later on). Miracle Punch saves your ass in tons of situations, I'll admit (using it on the Final Robot from Okumura was actually incredibly useful to create follow-ups from Baton Passing), but your character should have some persona in his pool to handle that sort of thing, either with guns or with the same abilities.

I prefer specialized roles in my team. If I am fighting random mooks, I don't really care about damage output aside from sweeping them. Most of the time I am doing it with joker anyway since he can get the +8% SP post battle. I fight Morgana way better in terms of pure healer and miracle punch ass pulls. If makoto get targeted she barely takes damage and can use her turn for some damage instead of heal since she's not dying anytime soon. If Morgana get damaged, assume that he didn't die, he would need to use his turn to heal right away or he would go down next attack.

Makoto also has good damage physical skill during early mid game. Nuclear is also an extremely good element for enemies without weakness as technical damage can be dealt. Makoto social link also can be maxed earlier, given those strong endure and saving joker passive in battle
