>big company buys a small but promising company
>nothing happens from them ever again
What's the point of buying then?
To remove competition while at the same time gaining the talent behind the company for other projects.

EA are literally Satan and want to eradicate all their competition (and thus everything enjoyable to video gamers) so their piss poor games look better by comparison
that's why they gobbled up so many good small companies and sat on their IPs
our only hope is to play team fortress 2
>smaller company cashes out, leaving their fans behind
Why do people forget this? None of them care about you.

What's to stop us from just stealing their games and hacking the mp until people get fed up and stop playing?

this is correct opinion.

that would be the glass half empty possibility.
the glass half full possibility is that the people at EA buy the companies because they want to support them and make sure they have the resources they need, but then fuck it all up by trying to apply their management style. Like a child playing with a delicate toy, and then ends up breaking it because they didn't know who to treat it right.although the satan thing is far more likely imo

It's not just EA. Japan has Bandai, which does the exact same thing. They were willing to buy the Metal Gear license from Konami at one point, just to gain access to the FOX Engine. Once everything fell apart, they hired the French creator of the engine.

fuck off EA
