It's a JRPG series that has a very slow pace. Lots of emphasis on character development and worldbuilding. Very charming series, has great atmosphere and ludicrous amounts of detail and flavor text. Only real problem is the slow pace and that the first game has lousy combat. The combat was improved a lot in later games but the series is so heavy on continuity that you can't skip games without missing a huge amount of the appeal.

It's a niche series but for a certain subset of people it's insanely good.

I have TF2 at the top of my list because I used to love that game before it went F2P, then it turned to utter trash. Actually I'd argue it became trash at the scout update but it became completely unplayable after F2P
