2 is the only Kingdom Hearts game with actual, working combat design and gameplay.

In KH1 you can tank everything really easily because you are allowed to spam Cure, and the range/mobility aspects are really rough and only serve to annoy the player. BBS drops melee entirely and wants you to repeatedly cast whatever overpowered spell is the designated hard counter, plus the bossfights are garbage because they're full of long invulnerability periods and OHKO attacks.

The Cavern of Remembrance's single fault was the last puzzle that requires Final Form with Glide at least level 4. I made it that far without even needing to unlock Final form due to creative use of all the drive powers.

Yeah, the platforming in KH1 wasn't enjoyable at all because the zones were so tiny and cramped, and Sora lacked traction and his jump was really awkward (you reach max height fast, fall like a lead weight and get no air control). And there were a lot of flying enemies who'd park themselves over pits and refused to fight you.

(Some of) KH1's levels were better compared to KH2 because they had detail and dynamic bits that you could interact with just for the hell of it. KH2 consists of empty fields and hallways that often don't have any unique elements that catch the eye. Just generic rock formations, pillars and so on.
