And? Long reach weapons were for keeping enemies at bay and killing them before they could reach you, which pole weapons did effectively. Swords did not. Swords were weapons for actually being in the fray, like maces. In those instances, short swords were vastly more effective than long, as were maces for much the same reasons. Long swords were dumb garbage that served no real purpose other than making it easier to tale the occasional swipe at a mounted soldier. Comparing a mace to a sword with longer reach just means you're barely saving any weight while having a weapon that's more poorly balanced and harder to use.
