I respect and enjoy the Japanese culture, but I have no need to learn Japanese or live (not travel, mind you) in Japan. Even if I did want to do that, I would always be the second class citizens of a white guy in Japan, instead of the first class American tourist. And that's perfectly fine. I don't need or want to change Japan, and I'm certainly not the essence of Japanese myself.

I have studied a little Japanese out of interest, hiragana, basic syntax, a few basic syntaxes. I don't regret that, but I also see no reason to go beyond that.

So basically, enjoy different cultures, but weebs fuck off.

The way the school system teaches languages in Japan is very bad.
They literally almost never speak, they learn strings of words and verbs, but they never learn to "speak english" per se.
