Well, Anthony Burch isn't on the writing team anymore, and the script has been confirmed to be written by Scooters voice actor who also wrote the story for the first game.

He also has a say in the official comics, and if you've read those, you know what route he wants to take Borderlands down. Weather Gearbox lets him have enough freedom to do so is another story though.

The humor in borderlands is really the thing that stops me from liking these games.

Even Tales was just fucking terrible and I have no idea why people praise it so much. Every piece of dialogue is poorly timed, the facial expressions and body language are all completely off. It just kills the tone of any joke they tried to make. Plus there's the horribly cringey finger gun fight which is definitely the most awful moment in any game I've played this year, no contest.

The Grinder is the best answer for crafting. It gives you a reason to pick up low quality guns in the hopes of getting something better. There are recipes but it still has a degree of randomness.

Ok I've played through BL1 and 2 several times and for the first time I've been going through PreSeq. I just got to the part where Jack got betrayed by Moxxi, Lilith, and Roland and they had the Eye get sucked into the black hole thing. Is fucking awful.
The recoil on weapons is this weird mix of high angle deflection but very slow movement. There's no kick to it, its more like it just turns your fucking camera up and back down slowly while the big fucking gun sight taking up the middle of your screen appears to be almost rock solid stationary.

Enemy health is just the right amount of frustrating bullet spongy that you get apologists saying "nuh uh they aren't bullet sponges", but even when you land all of your shots against anything above the weakest grunts, you're going to have to reload most weapons after just one or two kills each time. The number of shots needed to kill shit combined with the slow as fuck movement speed for everything in the game makes it feel boring as shit.

Speaking of reloading, the spongy enemies facilitate the need for you to be carrying 1000+ rounds of ammo for your primary and secondary combined. Why even fucking bother with ammo reserves? Its social features are borderline useless, it has no clans, no guilds, no group functionality, no privacy features too

The launcher runs like ass to boot and its covered in ads and shit you don't care about, and not in a 'hey, we have news' kind of way but rather a 'hey, we're selling you extra shit' kind of way, that isn't tucked away in a tab on the side, but rather takes up most of the launcher.

The only thing it has over steam is that steam is using browser tech from the early 2000s that runs like ass no matter what you do, but steam offers way more functionality, including things blizzard should have as a core feature of the launcher, namely an addon/mod/map browser or workshop to divorce the community away from retarded third party software they need to manage that shit to begin with.

That's it really, characters are fun as fuck and gameplay is easily the best in the series, but it just lacks stuff to do.

In BL2 you had a lot of ways to level up a character (Pirate and Torgue DLC start at lvl 15, so you can say "fuck it" to the secondary quests in the main game and play those). but TPS is just one straight line.

It's not specified EXACTLY what he's writing but it's pretty fucking obvious what he has written already. In a game filled with mostly cliché characters screaming shit like FOR JUSTICE and TO HONOR MY FAMILY, they recently added a character who sounds like his dialogue is literally taken from BL2 soundclips. Personally, I found him mildly annoying in BL1 and 2 (nothing compared to Lilith, Claptrap, etc) but he was extremely well written and acted in Tales, he was still an idiot but they made him lovable and made you feel way more for him in the span of 2 episodes from Tales than the entirety of the mainline games, plus his death was handled very good.

They can bring back Jack's double.
They can bring back AI Jack if they want to make the "Rhys didn't destroy the chip" canon.
If the former, they can put AI Jack into Claptrap or Timothy for hilarity.
If all else fails they can make one of the vaults revive a character or something (Sasha already got revived because of that clock in Tales).

Tons of things they can do. I personally would like seeing Blake or Handsome Rhys as the villains/antagonist if something awful happens along the way.

Don't get all huffy puffy with me that they didn't realise how ridiculously overpowered the Bee Shield was pre-patch.
