So guys, tell me about the /v/ from the 2000 decade. How was it like back then?
I came here in late 2009 I think, but I'm curious to know what it was like before. I still remember Pokémon being allowed and general threads before /vg/.

/v/ in a nutshell.
Tripfags fucking everywhere

Is not that it wasn't true for a few years though.
back then when people said "4chan" they meant /v/ or /b/
now they mean /pol/

This is probably the best description of /v/'s timeline
It will never be Japan Time ever again.
it was like reddit and gaia and deviantart
More vitriol but somehow less negativity
No political bullshit except for the occasional Jack Thompson potshot

When you are done being a worthless chantard
Tripfags everywhere.
Less meta double-ironic shitposting
Console wars full of retards
Staff gave a shit
More genuine LOL or LMAO posting

Were there as much forum posting as there are Twitter posting nowadays? There's always a Twitter screencap thread in the front page.
>>377669245
Shit posting and generals as far as the eye can see,. Tripfags eatting all the attention they could catch, and back then all they had to do was open their mouth and it would leap right in!

Good god no
>>377670463
What happened to that guy?
2006 /v/ was extra slow moving and there were pokemon threads everywhere.
>>377673571
Captchas may have killed him.
Captcha-free posting is something you don't appreciate until you lose it.
/b/ and /v/ used to be so fun and innocent back then.
Feel like everything on here is so serious now

I miss Japan Time
>>377673571
he got v& for cp. got out of jail and moot supposedly made him a mod.
>>377675731
No fun allowed since Gamergate and The Fappening.
I mean, that's not entirely true, but there's always this looming idea to not get too big for our britches out stuff. /b/ also wouldn't want to try fun stuff anymore. It's legitimately sad to go there now. Just a bunch of underageb& asking for nudes, hookups, and weed. No ylyl, no New York webcam to knock over the magazine stand, nothing like that anymore.
>>377669245
It was filled with anti-console, delusional as fuck, computer nerds. Things were so bad, Moot eventually made /g/ just for them to fuck off and leave us alone.
It wasn't about which console ports were worth buying, it was about which $500 PC part was superior.
>>377676030
What the fug, a mod? Why
/v/ was so terrible, I didn't even visit enough to say I really browsed it. It was filled with shitty generals and tripfags, and Pokemon dominated because no /vp/. Actual unironic console wars were completely normal. The site was definitely kinda different back then though. Pretty much everyone liked anime, except for dumb kids on /b/. Sometimes I miss the old days, but then I read old posts and screenshots and remember how fucking terrible all the memes were, and how they led us on the road to normalfags posting "memes" all over their facebooks.
>>377669245
Memes, shitposting, and blatant transgender pornography.
Oh, and occasionally bots flooding the forum with random bullshit.
So basically nothing has changed.
>>377676064
Tell me more of the days of yore
>>377676197
And yet I miss it still. I'm glad we still have OC stuff, though. Mosaic threads are always fun, and /v/ The Musical is a nice project to look forward to,
>>377669548
Yeah. We had Toxic Jester, Lanced Jack, Klonies, and a whole bunch of other faggots. Glad those days are over with.
>>377669508
War, war never changes
>>377676368
The bots were way worse, though. I still remember the red square spam that forced the site to start using captcha. Every single board was unusable for I don't even remember how long. At least a few days.

I don't remember that bot. Sounds spooky, though. Definitely a virus from an embedded file. I wonder how many people fell for it.
I mean, remembering lost boy, probably quite a few.
>>377669245
Honestly I thought the Pokemon threads were nightmares. /v/ was nothing but pokemon and lol with just a little left over
>>377669245
Idk back then /b/ was good so I diden't have to come to blue /b/
