Not sure why you would want to replay it, best aspects of Witcher 3 are the story, world, and visuals. Once you've beaten it once listening to hundreds of hours of dialog doesn't sound very appealing and the spectacle of the world and graphics will have worn off.

Still totally glad I played it but it's like rewatching an entire TV series, ain't nobody got time for that.

So I got the PS4 GOTY version or whatever (the one that comes with the soundtrack) for 20 bucks the other day and my G O D it runs like complete fucking shit. People like to meme about the Souls series and how badly they run on consoles but the framedrops in this game are fucking unreal; who gives a shit if the game looks nice if it's barely playable.

I killed the griffin at the beginning of the game and I'm having a real hard time not dropping this game; on top of the aforementioned performance issues, the gameplay is nothing to write home about and Geralt's voice actor is horrible, he sounds like someone trying his hardest to force a tough, raspy voice while saying every line with the same droning tone. I really don't understand the praise behind this game.

Why is there such an obnoxious amount of padding in this game?
There's so much helping people to help people to help people to know where Ciri might have been that it's just baffling.
That time you get to the isle of mists and you have to help those dwarves there I wish they had given me the option to just kick them out.
Hell, the entirety of the Novigrad arc is absolutely pointless.

It honestly depends on what you like. I enjoyed the first 2 games, and the 3rd game was right up my ally. That does not mean however that the criticisms people have are invalid.

First, this is very much a story/dialog driven game. A lot, and I mean a a lot of detail went into everything involving that. The VAs are all good, the scenery is great, the world feels large and has nice variety. There's a lot of reading, so if you spend time on wiki just idly reading like I do you'll have plenty to get pulled into.

That being said, the combat is flat. Depending on the difficulty you select, you can stall being overpowered for a while, but eventually you will reach the point where very little can do you harm, and combat is just brief interlude between the next person you want to talk to. Gwent is fun, but one deck is significantly OP over everything else.

I do not disagree that this leans more towards being a cinematic novel and less like a game, but if you take that aspect by the reigns it's a very good one.

That is the whole POINT you complete and utter fail at life. THIS is what I mean when I say you people don't understand the point of an RPG. The whole fucking point of it is that there is optional branching paths you don't have to take. It's not "useless" when it provides hours and hours of content, just because it doesn't dramatically affect the main quest doesn't somehow mean everything you just did was pointless. You leveled up your character, fleshed out your Geralt's literal character, meant and were exposed to interesting story content that expands the world and lore. All of that isn't rendered inert because it's a sidequest and not a main one.

You don't play Skyrim for the main quest and then say "Oh the Dark Brotherhood was completely useless"

The Witcher 3 is probably my favourite game of all time, or at least tied for first place with others.

It has its flaws no doubt and 90% of them lie in the realm of gameplay. But it is only 'flawed' to a certain point. The gameplay can still be called 'above average' at its very worst. The reason why people latch on to it specifically is because it excels in every other area so much. I mean think about some other games people here laud unconditionally like Mass Effect. The gameplay for that game is far worse than TW3. The gun combat is iffy, the party management commands don't even work, gameplay is even more repetitive, vehicle driving is shit and the minigames don't even hold a candle to Gwent. Same goes for DEUS EX Human Revolution. Compared to TW3 Deus Ex HR's combat is laughably bad and the story feels like a third grader's take on social issues and ethics.

But yea, back to the flaws. Alternative sign modes aren't good enough to justify their usage. Enemy attack patterns aren't unique enough and all fall to the same tactics (somewhat rectified in the DLCs, but not enough). Enemies are too easy even on the hardest difficulty.

Skills in general don't seem to be necessary to beat the game. I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing, just a different approach to video game design. Skills in TW3 seem only to improve your quality of life at most for very specific encounters at any one time due to the limited number of active skill slots.
