I thought the hallway thing was a meme. It's not a meme. 15+ hours into the game literally every single area in the game is a single line. Every time I looked at the map all I saw was a single path with some turns. Amazing.

The game's nothing but a tutorial until after Chapter 10. I think it's 11 or 12 when they throw you into an open a field and start pushing sidequests and monster hunts on you.

From an outsiders pov, it sounds stupid, but Im also the same way... would rather pay more for my own shiny new game then buy perfectly fine used one. If you are a collector, enjoy the game, have the money... why not, I suppose.
