It had really great waifus that appealed to a wide range of preferences.
The combat was fun, especially climbing around the huge enemies.
The pawn system was fantastic, being able to train them to do shit by showing them made making a good pawn very rewarding.
And I haven't even made it to the DLC content yet.

I don't really see what they could add to the game. How would your Pawns follow you if you were on horseback, and then every time you wanted to engage you'd have to either fight on horseback or have to stop and get off each time. I think the current travel system is fine as is. If anything I'd keep the Ferrystone system but add a travel service similar to the Silt Striders from Morrowind where they can take you directly to larger settlements.

Not really. I hate traveling by horse (or really any vehicle) in most RPGs because you have to dismount and remount all the time to do anything, and there are usually areas where it's hard to navigate your horse that you could more easily run or climb.

I like it a lot, but stat gains being based off your class and pawns not being able to dragon forge their gear on there own are pretty big annoyances - especially after Dark Arisen added upgrade levels past dragon forged. I put on berserk armour and cracked open the skull of a griffon as it nose dived into me, sending its lifeless body flailing to the floor and killing it in one single perfectly timed blow.

There are many design mistakes (like being able to heal from a paused menu, the way damage is calculated) but there is just so much fun and the atmosphere feels like a love letter to Miura and DnD.

If only DD was more polished. It could have easily been as popular as Elder Scrolls/Witcher series to the general market and guaranteed a sequel.

Let's make a list of changes that would have made DD really popular to the casual market for lots of money without negatively impacting the game to us.

Isn't that something they added in Dark Arisen? I remember in the vanilla game, you didn't get Ferrystones till you reached Gran Soren and did those tough escort quests. Even then, I don't think you get the Eternal Ferrystone till you finish one playthrough.

DD is not popular with the casuals. As much as blah blah casuals, games like DD really needed that market to have enough money to make sequels.

I was making a list of changes that would barely affect the game while draw in as many casual players as possible.

Yes, explorations is fun, but a lot of people on steam and such quit after getting rekt by those witchwood bandits. On top of that, most people agree that the early game is slow, so a lot of new or casual players lose interest -> less sales for a sequel greenlight.

That doesn't happen though. Warriors get stagger resistance out the asshole. In the base game you have heavy armor, ogres bones, and an augment that jacks up your resists while charging your bread and butter moves. BBI warrior/fighter can hit 100% stagger/knockdown resist from gear alone. Try investing in stats other than attack power, they actually work out pretty well.

I don't know guys, I find Dragons Dogma way too boring to carry on playing. I just defeated the Griffin thing in Windbluff Tower (or whatever it's called).

I have been playing it and am grateful that you get it early on, I've already played the game on my 360 back then. The base edition didn't have the stone given to you by default, it was added in Dark Arisen. I think they figured that players will need to go around placing the Port Crystals first anyway so there's no harm in giving them the Eternal Stone at the start. I do agree that the sequel shouldn't give you it by default and they should fix up the traveling in the game so it isn't so much of a chore at all. I'm sure they can do it, just have better shit to look at, randomised encounters and monsters, shit like that. Being given the Eternal Stone by default in DA is a crutch due to the open world not being a lot of fun to roam in after you've traveled it once or twice.

For me, I thought I had just stepped out of the starting area and the game was over. The entire continent feels like it was meant to be just one region of a larger game world, and it seems like that's what it is when you first get to the swamp area, since it's like you're leaving the welcoming green hills for a treacherous new environment, except then the game ends right after. The game really suffered from cut dev time and budget.

Well I wasn't suggesting they make a map the size of Skyrim or Hyrule, but at least twice as big as Gran Soren propper. That way they could add in an extra town or two and make content specific to each region without having to consult the copy paste machine as much. In the Dragon's Dogma art book, or pic related, they designed massive beasts that look to be in some ruined town or some plains. I want to see things of that scale roaming around on my travels.

It's just a weird game
>Awesome combat in general, but still feels unfinished, could have been so much better

I still love the game, but i'm still asshurt about all the unfulfilled potential. I'm also salty about the fact that DD2 will never happen and Capcom has been fucking around with Deep Down that never will get released
