Started playing Dwarf Fortress a short while back. Fortresses came and went, kept fucking up basic things, didn't create a military, accidentally flooded a fortress with an aquifer, the usual. How do i kill this husk?
My dwarves have been smashing it apart for a week now but it's still not dead.

Its legs and teeth have all been smashed so all it can do is sort of stare menacingly at people from the bottom of the river, but it's decreasing the fortress' productivity by spooking the civilians.

I got stuck in adventurer for several minutes because of a GCS
I had an adamantine helmet, but that piece of shit spider was webbing me and then attempted to bite my head off unsuccessfully for several strikes until I got freed just to get webbed again

If it wasn't for me getting bitten in the arm at some point and bleeding to death that one-way fight I would have been forced to manually exit the game.

I lost about 8 dwarves in that one action I think, military was occupied far too long by one giant cave spider, it was embarrassing.
