Junction system is something you'll either love or hate. VIII was my first FF and first turn based RPG, so it's what I learned on. I'll grant you that it isn't overly exciting, but I do miss not having such an iron grip over character stat modification. The only thing that comes close was P4 Golden, thanks to shuffle time.
