What games are you REALLY trying to immerse yourself into but can't because of the godawful story?
Dragons Dogma feels like a soulless combat simulator.
>>377562287
The story was actually interesting, but more often than not you find yourself exploring the world and find out that wolves hunt in packs
it's mainly a combat simulator yes but the story does have some soul as flawed as it is
>>377562712
Don't know about that man, it feels as if you get forced into a generic fantasy story from the get go.
>>377562287
Story is shit until you get to the dragon, after that, it gets kind of interesting. The atmosphere/setting was decent enough to immerse me for the most part.
The combat is really what kept bringing me back, though.
>>377562972
if you dont think dragons dogma's story is baller, its because you havent finished it.
hint- the majority of the game (and yes this is a flaw) feels like a generic fantasy game on purpose to make the final reveal better.
>>377563254
exactly.
the game gets way better.
Capcom really made one of the best games I've ever played here.
Fallout 4
Game looks great
Everything else is boring shit and lost potential
>didn't complete the Lost and Found quest because I advanced the main quest too soon
>Go to WitchWood anyway
>Selene is forever curled up on the floor, but she takes herbs and gives ales for other quests
>Take an escort quest in Gran Soren without looking who it is
>End up taking Selene from the capital to a healing pool in the middle of nowhere
>All she can say is "Gran spoke of this... Said not to speak with you... With people from beyond the wood..."
This game is the cheesiest thing I've played since Guild Wars. It's like a parody of rpgs; right down to the corny, rock guitar music and main screen operatic theme about prophesy.
DDDA actually has a good story its just not told to you until the last 10% of the game unfortunately.
>>377563372
It's not that it gets better, it's that you start to notice the details.
>>377564916
>theme about prophesy
The theme is about an arisen learning the truth about the cycle. It's not about a prophecy .
>>377565068
>its just not told to you until the last 10% of the game
People always say this and they're always wrong. The detail is in dialog with npcs. The game heavily foreshadows that there's a whole lot more to what's going on than just slay the evil dragon.
>WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEEEEE
hype as shit
>listen a little longer
>WHY CAN'T WE UNDERSTAND, WE KILL OURSELVES IN THE END
o-oh
>>377562287
did you find out what the dragon's dogma is yet?
hint: it's not just a sword.
>>377562287
Beat the game. You will understand. Then beat it again, and you will FULLY understand
>>377565835
Then beat bitterblack isle and understand further
the story doesn't pick up until grigori shows you the real truth about a certain character. anyone else who tells you differently has played the game more than twice and tells you shit like the "listen for the hints" when they didn't know jack shit the first time through either. just play the game, have fun, because it literally all comes together in the end and makes you want to play it again.
>>377564916
the game is like elder scrolls, presents itself as generic fantasy but then you look into the lore a little bit and discover something amazing
>>377566183
Less listen for hints and more talk to npcs. You miss a lot of flavor and world building if you don't.
Funfact: you can see the cockatrice that goes nuts inside the city
another funfact: every npc in the game is named. there's no "village girl" or any shit like that.
>give your ring to your waifu
>end up with madeline because her affinity is piss easy to max out and you simply talked to her last by shopping at her store at the inn before you finish the game
>>377566585
Another funfact: Nearly every single one of those named NPCs can be your waifu or husbando, even the kids.
I halfway paid attention to the story, I kind of just make up my own story and went along with it.
>>377567338
From your point of view, explain what went down with the Duke. I'm interested.
>>377566701
The way the affinity system works in DD is Grigori will pick the most recent person you reached highest affinity with. It really makes the Arisen's Bond pointless.
>>377562287
But its actually a pawnfu simulator
>>377567159
Especially the kids
