Disabling PhysX wont affect her hair at all only the particle system. PS3 using NVIDIA GPU is irrelevant, PHYSX at the hardware level would kill performance on its 7000 series GPU.

It's not like they decided what to cut, they literally had no time to develop what they hadn't developed yet.
As example, the first boss fight in the Hatter domain: when EA decided to cut development time, the Hatter domain and the intro scene for its boss(which remained in the game) was ready, but the actual boss fight was not, but since the entire Hatter domain was made to be a build up to the boss fight(the dormouse and hare literally turned it into a factory to build the robot), they couldn't just cut out it entirely, so they had to add the sequence where the robot falls apart on its own.

They had the themes and their level planned, but were left with no time to develop the ideas they had, and were told to keep the game the same length, so they literally couldn't cut nothing of what they already had.

Because my understanding is doing a sequel with the same Alice McGee created, basically doing the same thing any fangame would do, and that's literally copyright infringement.
Game wise, McGee can't literally use "his own" Alice legally, and neither can any other company.

I'm not sure you understand how, in this case, copyright infringement would work.
Dark Souls and Demon Souls aren't strictly tied by the same story, it's more of a general setting.
Instead, this Alice series revolves around Alice's story as McGee imagined it, and that, the story McGee wrote for her so far, is what EA is the owner of.
No one, including McGee himself, can create an Alice game which picks up from this specific Alice iteration with this specific background and lore without EA consent.
The moment you create a game related to, like you suggested with her sister's murder example, an event in McGee's Alice story, you're illegally using an EA IP.
To avoid that, you'd have to erase all the background this Alice has, basically creating an entirely new Alice(from Carrol, which is free domain), completely unrelated to the asylum, her sister rape and family murder, trauma and all that, and at that point is just not the same series.

A spiritual sequel is any game retains the feeling of the original though. It doesnt have to be related. Kinda like how Blazblue is the spiritual sequel to Guilty Gear, or like I said, Dark Souls to Demon's Souls.

These spiritual sequels usually happen when the devs no longer can make a game about an ip due to publisher issues so they make a fresh new ip that mimics its aesthetics and feel, which is what would happen with McGee's Alice if he cannot buy the IP back from EA.

I can't remember, was it actually ever confirmed if Alice was raped by the doctor or not? Or is it just assumed.

It's been off of Steam for a while now, IIRC it happened when Spicy Horse ceased to be, so it seems to be related to that but at the same time it could not as the game is still available on consoles and IIRC it's been recently included in the titles available on XBONE backward compatibility with 360 games, so who knows

Not sure, it's a PS3/360 game, so maybe it's available as a ps3 gtitle in the PSN Store(I don't even know if you can get PS3 games on PS4, i dont have a PS4)

I think currently the only available options to get it on PC are either Origin or pirating it.

It really depends on who plays it and with what attitude.
Personally it is, even if it drags a lot due to it being repetitive in the level design aspect.
For many it's not as objectively the gameplay is not the best around, all thanks to EA fucking the game during development.
In general, it's a story driven game(the level themes tell more about the story than the scenes themselves, even if the scenes are crucial of course), but you should play the first game too.

While I can see why people do this and I kinda do it myself too, i have to disagree.
Having long black hair(and green eyes) doesn't automatically make any female character a goth girl, she has nothing to do with goth at all.
She's literally a maiden, and while the maiden figure is also often associated with the goth style, this is not the case with her neutral blue dress.
The only connection, not even that strong, with the goth scene is being placed in the 19th century in london, hence in the victorian era which has strong connections to the goth style.
