Prototype was a pretty dumb game but i admit i had a lot of fun just fucking around in the overworld. You felt actually powerfull.

Best part about it, the overworld was even more fun than GTA overworlds given the amount of shit you could do in it.

I still load up my save of prototype 1 every now and then.

Never played prototype 2, in fact, prototype 2's launch and the heavy discount the first had when the second was launching was the only reason I even gave the first a shot. It seemed so fucking edgy and boring open world, but it's actually damn enjoyable.

no edgy has been around a long time. A very long time. prototype wasn't anything special at the time of it's release, and in fact looked pretty bland and boring since it was in NYC, everything was so gray and modern-urban, it felt very copy-paste and indie in design. But when I played it, it was very very fun, totally superceded all edginess.

Still need to play the second one one day but I just... Dunno, doesn't seem that interested.

Prototype 2 improves on the gameplay and it gets much faster than the first. More enemy variety also helps, but if you are a fan of the plot of the first game, which honestly isn't even that bad, then you likely won't like it because a lot of the plot is forgotten.

I suspect that the reason Prototype's setting felt drab was because lots of games that took place in NYC were released at the time.

Prototype, GTA IV, Mafia 2, and Crysis 2 were all released in the same 3 year period.
