Why?
>>
>>377473000
>no Ekoro
It's shit.
>>
>>377473000
>Comcept gave us the OK to use the rights to these characters however we see fit (and free of charge too)
Jesus Christ, they gave up completly.
>>
Oh hey Beck is actually gonna be in a good game.
>>
>>377473000
Why did they have to get such a fucking annoying voice actor, holy shit.
>>
>>377473000
Glad to see that MN9 fans still have somebody waiting for them on prom night.
>>
>>377473000
It definitely looks better than the original. But what's even the point of trying to fix MN9? The characters weren't even memorable. There was nothing worth saving. They might as well just had made something new.
>>
>>377473967
Its not hard to see why, Mighty No 9 got relentless shit which was totally deserved for the numerous delays and attempts to make it into a multimedia empire before the first game even came out . I think what is left of Comcept feels beaten down and convinced its worthless.

That said, I just wonder if Inafune will go out of hiding in order to promote the game.
>>
>>377474781
Inafune is negative publicity now.
>>
>>377473000
I mean, they still owe use 3DS and Vita versions of MN9

Is this it?
>>
>>377474781
>That said, I just wonder if Inafune will go out of hiding in order to promote the game.
Stop. The game has already been sabotaged just by featuring MN9.

Given how little shit Capcom gives at this point, I bet paying the toll to use actual Mega Man characters for this would have had better results. Just seeing Beck again will probably drive down hype and sales.
>>
>>377474478
Pobably because they're recycling assets from Mighty Gunvolt. Seems odd they only mentined two playable characters when MG had three.
>>
>>377474478

Depending on however the agreements behind MN9 worked Inti-Creates might be stuck with the license.

>>377473645

If Blaster Master Zero is any indication she'll be back, but probably as DLC.
>>
>>377473645
>>377475349
I hope so. I see no reason to cut Ekoro from this, seeing as she'll be playable in Blaster Master
I won't buy until she's announced
>>
I still haven't played Azure Striker Gunvolt 2.
>>
>>377475539

Understandable given she was the only decent controlling character in Mighty Gunvolt.

How dare they fucking sully Gunvolt's better-than-medicore name with the fucking flaming shit that was mighty no 9.

Fuck this. Gunvolt is leagues better than fucking beck. A little miffed. Fuck you.

>>

Most people who played the first didn't.
>>
>>377473000
Yeah what happened to MN9 for 3DS and Vita?
>>
>>377475683

Gunvolt was already in a game with Beck. And a chick from Gal Gun.

Also Gunvolt is shit.
>>
>>377475691
Yeah, I'm too lazy to buy it on my 3DS.
Maybe if they release a Switch port.
>>
>>377475801
About that...
http://gematsu.com/2017/05/azure-striker-gunvolt-striker-pack-announced-switch
>>
>>377475145
Not really, he'd still get people interested in it but only because now they want to see how bad it would turn out.

>>377475317
I'm convinced though that the reason why they're so attached to Beck is because they spent 3 years working on a game that went through development hell. Plus paying Capcom big bucks in order to use Mega Man in a low/no budget game probably wasnt in their interests
>>
>>377475801

They also announced a Gunvolt 1+2 pack for Switch today.

Why you'd but such a mediocre game though...
>>
>>377475782
Did i paint him to be a god in my post?

Just better than mn9.
>>
>people went from calling Beck the messiah to absolutely loathing any time he touches something
Also, was anyone ever really attached to his design? I always thought it was meh.
>>
Gunvolt is legitimately good. Why do people shit on it?
>>
>>377475868
Neat!
I quite enjoyed playing Gunvolt and the bump up to 60fps alone is enough to make me double-dip on that first game by buying the double pack.

>>377475929
>Why you'd but such a mediocre game though...
Because I had a lot of fun with it.
I recognise it's flaws but I gained a lot of enjoyment out of autistically replaying levels to get the highest rank.
I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone else but I had a fantastic time.
>>
>>377476027
Its bland but considering how close it looks like Mega Man, and considering how Capcom went out of their way to kill anything Mega Man related at the time of MN9 launching its kickstarter, it makes sense that people worshipped it.
>>
>>377473000
game looks ok actually,
but damn that narrator's unbearable.
>>
>>377473000
I'm surprised they kept Beck and dropped Ekoro. He was complete garbage in the original Mighty Gunvolt, while Ekoro could do some fun stuff with her hover and enemy-recruiting love gun.
>>
>>377476280
It's the bad parts about Megaman Zero, cranked up to eleven.
The level and boss design is pretty dull.
There is no challenge whatsoever to beat the game, only in the optional challenges and getting the best ranks in each level. Even that revolves around rote memorisation of enemy locations (unless you decide to cheese it) rather than something more skill based.
Then you've also got the grinding for materials to make upgrades.
I enjoyed playing it but it's got a fair amount of issues.
>>
>>377476280
it's exactly as good/bad as MN9
both of them have awkward controls that run counter to their design

you're supposed to get through the levels as fast as you can but you have to tag a bunch of shit on the screen with your peashooter and then just hang around as your electricity drains their HP

similarly, with Beck you're gotta strafe shit and then dash into them, and neither of them are intuitive

the better question is why do people insist it's good? on it's best day it's aggressively mediocre. call a spade a spade and be done with it
>>
Watch them cancell the Ekoro dlc for Blaster Master and add Beck instead
MN9 was a mistake
>>
>>377476721
>only in the optional challenges and getting the best ranks in each level
That's like, the point though. And this aspect of the game remains great.
It was the only thing that made the original Zero games great too.
>>
>>377476027
Not really. And it looks even worse in-game. You really notice how bland his color scheme is. He just doesn't stand out. I like Call's design, though.
>>
>>377473000
looks nice, I'll get it for the switch when it comes out.
>>
>>377476782
Well considering they intend to add more characters down the line, I can see Beck being added after Ekoro.
>>
>>377476772
>hang around
Your tags are still in effect even if the enemy isn't visible anymore.
>>
>>377476782
They wont go that far, but they'll definitely add him in later if they own the rights now.
>>
>>377476027
The only reason anyone cared about that metaphorical Chinese knockoff of Classic was due to the pain of Legends 3 and Capcom.

They were still under development at one point in November, but its unlikely that will ever happen now, especially since the devs doing the conversions tweeted this out

Zero (And X) was all about those animal/plant reploids and they could generally get pretty creative with them.

Gunvolt bosses are just neon humans with a gimmick. if you're lucky they might have a floating chair or mech suit to stand on. I think the most creative one is the guy who uses a robot to fight for him.

In theory it should, but the movement doesnt feel anywhere near as good, and the dash mechanic to take down enemies in less shots is more annoying and doesnt add to the game and theres too much chokepoints which feel like they tried to drag the game out.

Then again its been a while since I played it, I have no clue if I was just negative and its not that bad.

That announcer's actually worse than the "anime fan on prom night" guy. Also the "tack a stupid 100%-obligatory-even-on-non-score-runs combo gimmick on a combat-based platformer" meme needs to fucking die. As if both of those games' gimmicks alone weren't terrible enough.
>>
>>377478362
MN9 would be passable if the level design (and most of the boss fights) weren't complete dogshit. Game feels like the Mega Man version of a 13-year-old's first Super Mario World romhack.

>>
>>377486319
Half-Genie Hero is a legitimate 3/10.
In a nutshell, iIt's filled with many terrible design choices, absolutely no thought given to balancing (so unless you completely gimp yourself by not using major game mechanics like transformations/magic/items, it's a complete cakewalk), some of the laziest level design I've seen in the past fifteen years, shitty amounts of backtracking fetch quests (in linear fucking levels no less) in order to pad out the already meagre amount of content and is still missing key features promised for the final game.
I hate this shitty fucking game so much and I'm still angry about it.
I didn't even back it, I just bought it when it was released.
Fuck this game, fuck Wayforward and I strongly recommend that you don't play this game.
>>
>>377486319
>I've been playing through the rest of the series for nothing?

>>
>>377486860
Maybe he means he was mainly interested in playing HGH and he's going through the previous games just for the sake of catching up with the plot and characters?
>>
>>377486994
Yes, this is exactly what I meant. I really haven't enjoyed the series so far (halfway through Pirate's Curse) and believed that Half-Genie Hero was the light at the end of the tunnel after seeing the trailers. It looks fast-paced and fun. Hearing that it's worse than the ones I've been playing is genuinely distressing.
>>
>>377486764
I thought there was a reason I've been seeing this get price drops across various consoles.

I avoided it because "not much pixel sprites" but it's nice to know I lucked out and avoided a shit game. I kinda called it when they ditched the sprite look, the new animation style just kinda screamed low effort. It's not even a bad way of doing games (the new animated style monster boy game does it a LOT better than HGH). But HGH just looked like a shit inbetween of both.

>>377488263

>>
>>377486319
It's not bad, it's just kinda subpar compared to the rest. It's like they just sort of gave up 2/3 of the way through and their effort fizzled out at the end. They got rid of the dungeons and the levels are more linear, and you have to revisit those linear levels multiple times, making you bored of them in both the current playthrough and any possible future ones. I'd give it a 6/10, the meh gameplay is bumped up by the great music and cute visuals. I hope they go back to their regular formula instead of relying on kikestarter in the future.

If you don't enjoy Pirate's Curse, stop now. I loved that fucking game and it's the game that got me interested in the Shantae series, its world, its gameplay and its characters.

That being said the series has a terrible track record with only 2 out of the 4 games being actually good. Risky's Revenge and HGH are tolerable if you're a fan but both games are just unfinished, there's no sugar coating it. Truth be told the reason for it is just because Wayforward is a small developer that never has the money to do what they want and in the case of HGH, they HORRIBLY mismanaged the money and the time that they did have. The new art style was a huge drain that took away from pacing, gameplay design, the general writing, the length, and other facets of the game save for the music which is top tier as always. I feel bad for Wayforward given that they've already had to cancel two Shantae games for lack of a publisher but they made some retarded decisions with HGH.
