As archaic and clunky as it is now, I think this is still by far the best MH. Perfect amount of content and real easy to get back into. I say get back since Tri and 4 do a much better job of weening in new players, but shit I'll never forget discovering MHFU while looking for games to hold me over while recovering from surgery many years ago. I was a dumbass and did the online quests on my own for a bit, thinking the village quests were just tutorials. Dumb, but the difficulty pushed me to learn hard and fast. Hunts would last upwards of 30-40 minutes back then. A core player would laugh condescendingly in response to that but damn if it didn't make each hunt feel like a full-fledged adventure. I still remember my first Congalala. That shit was brutal, but my dick was diamonds when I put that fucker down.

I'd say I talked myself into replaying it but I just did last year.

My roommate and I started playing this game on PPSSPP recently. We're both completely new to MH but we're having a blast fighting shit and playing dress-up with new gear.

I enjoyed Freedom Unite way too much and it caused me to completely burn out on MH games. I still don't want to pick another MH game, but I don't regret the 500+ hours I put into it.
