Thoughts on Little Big Adventure 1 & 2? AKA Relentless & Twinsen's Odyssey
What was his fucking problem?
>always thought this game looked gay as fuck because the main character looks like some down syndrome cunt
>play game
>amazing
>music
>amazing
I was btfod
I fucking love those games. I replay about once a year.

How do you get them to run properly on Win7?
Sequel was better. You got to travel to other planets and shit.
>>377449528
They're both on GOG and those versions work for me.

It's a shame there aren't any games similar to LBA series. I think Beyond Good & Evil was close in the same exploration of a bizarre planet with antropomorphic animals in it, but that IP is fucking dead as well.
I had the ps1 demo disc with this on it.
Was slightly scary but enjoyable. I should play the actual game at some point.
>>377449763
you can punch pretty much all NPCs in it including kids and your pregnant wife and see what happens, great adventure to be had. LBA2 is much better and works on its own as a self contained story
>>377449401
>>377449542
>>377449783
where the fuck is LBA3, all kinds of games get sequels, yet something like LBA2 is abandoned and nothing similar to it is ever made, fucking gay industry this is, some wishy washy IPs like Watch Dogs get sequels but not LBA?
Nothing scratches that LBA itch and I've already beaten it so many times, it's so bad I think of making a fucking ripoff of it myself. If nobody will, might as well make it myself. But then it won't be as fun to play.
>>377449763
You get to explore a fantastical world full of bizarre and interesting characters. Learn magic, fly a dragon, meet aliens, travel through space, sword fight crazy monsters, fire a laser gun, and punch people.
God damn you do so much crazy stuff in LBA 2, just talking about it makes me want to play it again.
>>377450760
Also helps playing this game as a kid being impressed by 3D graphics. This and Unreal completely sucked me in.
>>377451031
and beating NPCs, always

>yfw bouncing around in low gravity on the moon
>>377451110
Beating the Mosquibee queen for no reason made me feel cool.
>>377451110
>Have trust in our friendship
I'm onto you motherfucker
>>377451247
I should make more LBA webms my stuff is old as fuck
>>377451473
Fucking sausage cunts and the way they escalate their chase for you more and more as the game progresses. Also I have memories of trying to snipe the little mosquitoes with the crystal pistol.
>>377451380
why are you so violent, my friend :^)
>>377451628
The laser pistol is great, aiming is a motherfucker in tank controls though. LBA would benefit so much from today's technology in a new game.
>>377451926
I used to do the animation where the takes a deep breath and hop from one feet to the other when idling in sportive mode.
>>377449542
Sequel was indeed much better
>full 3D environments
>you get to drive a car around
>other planets
>fucking amazing story>if you beat up a bunch of kids their parents/older siblings punch you back
>>377452121
what about this animation
>>377452245My grandmother made fun of me doing that and said I looked like the robot from Lost in Space.
>>377452383
I knew a guy who was like 6' 10 and looked like a stick, he used to run around in class, to get his exam and shit like that with his hands behind him, did that in front of 20+ people, there are people who do crazier stuff in public I guess.
>>377452560
He ran like Ed?
I still have the original disk around here. Absolutely one of the best games I ever played in my entire life.
>>377452826
no more like Sonic CD at max speed, but he said he was imitating Goku or some shit
>>377453032
All that hilarious exploration. Game was like a Deus Ex for kids.
>>377453193
It was simple but hey it was one of those games in the era of 3D pioneers
Tried to get into these games but couldn't get over the controls. Having to constantly switch between different 'modes' or whatever to do anything plus tank controls just really bugged me for some reason.
I didn't play them for very long though. Maybe I'll give them another shot.
Anything I should know before playing either game?
LBA2 has such killer music too

in LBA2 you can quickswitch the modes, I think default is F1-F4. Also notice that the items you use change depending on the mode, like the discreet mode causes the magic ball throw to be in a lob fashion
Also you can skip 1 and go straight to LBA2, it works on its own and it's the superior game anyway
>>377454378
>>377454054
I am so used to tank controls that they don't bother me (this and Tomb Raider).
As for the modes, you're in sporty 90% of the time, only aggressive when you need to fight, and discreet for those rare sneaking times. Also they're hotkeyed to F1-F4 so you can switch easy.
>>377449108
>I was btfod
can't think of a better way for it to happen.
really loved these games too, but was had a similar lack of faith.
>>377455474
but then no games similar to it are coming out, which is sad
Some of the guys who made the LBA series made 2Dark but that game bombed I bet. Not like LBA3 would ever happen anyway, Frederick Raynal, the lead dev of those games once mentioned they don't want to do it via crowdfunding, needs a publisher and a budget, and it does make sense because LBA3 would be a fully 3D game and features lots of voice acting which is expensive.
>>377455076
>>377448881
This is my first time seeing this fucking game on /v/ omg
Anyway, they were really damn good. I especially love the second one because it was the first 3D game I ever played. Great adventure, great Zeldaesque upgrades that never make you OP, all in all a good game.
>get to walk hand in hand with your pregnant girlfriend into the sea and drown together
What a game.
>>377457312
kek
>>377451891
Fuck that pistol, I always hit with the magic ball
>>377457206
It's a great game but differs a lot from Zelda, LoZ has way more focus on combat and less on story/characters, because in Zelda it's pretty much the same story all the time. LBA games are more about the journey, uncovering mysteries, exploring a very alien planet with different species and this kind of shit, while Zelda is a more grounded fantasy and serious.
>>377448881
I have the cd with the LBA 2 is funny I didnt play LBA 1 till like 2005 or 2006 but Great game series I love twinsens story arc.
>>377456984
Good memories.
>>377452245
>play as a kid
>lol wtf is he doing
>play as a teen
>>377451217
You mutherfucker!
This shit is gold
>>377453193
It still blows my mind how full of exploration shit it was. So much money to be made from random trash cans in the middle of nowhere.
>>377454129

the sporty music is so hype
>>377458329
Song of Gabriel is great too

>>377458560
>>377457548
Oh absolutely, I merely refer to the weapons themselves. What's the strongest you can get, the laser gun maybe? It's still just a silly gun. Your best weapon is running.
>>377453032
>20 years old game have working mirrors
Thanks consoles!
>>377460690
Best weapons are max level magic ball, and the Emperor's Sabre for melee.
>>377460690
also there's a spell that consumes all your magic meter and kills all enemies onscreen, that's the strongest attack of the game I guess
The meca penguins can deal a lot of damage as well
