Just love traversing through the same, shitty boring environments with the same, shitty enemies that can one/two shot you over and over again. The only thing this game does competently are its shortcuts, but other than that, it's a reskinned Lords of the Fallen.

i actually liked lotf a lot, but surge is pretty mediocre so far. the shortcuts are basically "we saw souls had this so we added it in". a lot of the shortcuts aren't any shorter than the original route, and they never make you go "wow, so this area connects to this area like this". instead it's "oh, there's three locked doors here, these are gonna be my shortcuts later i guess"

I don't like the idea of ripoffs. There are too many of those games going for the same shit as soulshit and it screams laziness. It's a bad trend of this creatively bankrupt industry to just copy whatever worked and hope for the best. I honestly don't feel like playing their games even for free.

It just sounds cynical you know, if this was an abandoned genre of sorts it would be fine, say they're making a game similar to Vigilante 8, or maybe similar to FreeSpace 2 or Freelancer because all those are in dead genres, but with all those souls like games, it just sounds too cynical of a cash grab.
