It's pretty great, adds and fixes a lot of the things that were missing in the original release. That said for me personally the main reason I still play the game is the people I play it with and you might not get that if you join now.

There are still people playing. But at this point all the content that's ever gonna be released for it has been and most people that have been playing it for a while have gone through all of it probably multiple times already so the people still left are the dedicated ones and the people that just bought it on a sale or something.

It does have story missions and cinematics. The main complaint about the original release tho was the presentation of the story. The first expansion fixed it for the most part but I'm not sure how much you're gonna get out of the game if you just wanna play it as a single player game. You have the main game and 2 pieces of DLC and 2 expansions. Each of these has their own storyline and they do sort of intertwine and lead into each other.

There were like 10-15 missions, I beat the game in like 2 days.
Over half the content came from daily/weekly/monthly missions, not too mention most of those didn't even have matchmaking, so you either had to have your friends buy into this scam or search 3 hours online for people to play with only for one of them to leave 10 minutes in.

Op here im level 34 and Light level 200, Im not up there but I got to this point with just the vanilla game, from what people are saying i=I think it would definitely be worth it, I loved this game even in its Vanilla stage all the memories and experiences were baffling to me, not mention I had a broken leg when it first came out and all I did for weeks was play it

Destiny is now a complete game and with it being literally half the price it was at launch with expansion pass its well worth and Destiny 2 is months away so that play time is still well worth it

I think most of them were either remade or just have a higher level version of them. I'm not sure there are any not playable at the highest level with loot being able to go up to 400 light level, at least from the final chest.
