It doesn't. Ventus is still just a child. His heart was badly damaged and Sora offered to let him heal inside his own heart. Ventus is still the same age physically, and he is still healing within Sora. That's why Roxas looks like Ventus, and that's why Roxas can weild 2 keyblades, because he's a part of both Sora and Ventus.
