the game was quite an improvement over heroes control-wise, specially in the rails. if they fixed the acceleration being janky as shit and the level design going beyond rock bottom at points then shadow's game could have been better received. Still didn't prevent me from getting all endings for the sake of playing as super edge, but I sure as fuck wouldn't do it again

That's literally all they had to do. It's still a mediocre game as is, but it had potential to be genuinely good (assuming you can embrace the stupidly edgy plot and not take it seriously)
