What goes through a person's head when they donate hundreds of dollars to a Twitch streamer? What do they expect in return?
>>
>>377384424
A (you)

Kinda like the reason you made this thread.
>>
>i-it's my money and I can do what I want with it!
>>
When your entire life is about work, you have a lot of money and no meaningful relationships. You may feel inclined to buy friends. Now you can do so digitally. Twitch is Amazon for friends.
>>
nothing goes through their head, they are animals that act on instinct and are incapable of sapient thoughts

>>
>>377384424
It's a donation why are you expecting anything in return?
>>
It's seriously a fucking nightmare trying to watch a stream when some loser is regularly donating just to send messages to the streamer. Legitimately discomforting.
>>
>>377384424
A nip slip on Skype when the stream's over.
>>
The real question is, why do dirty arabs donate so much money to dumb twitch whores? The top 10 donators for any girl twitch streamer are always fucking arabs.
>>
>stream has some sort of automated thing that plays a voice clip and display something for a decent donation
>that keep who keeps donating every minute to the point where we can't hear anything from the normal stream anymore
>>
>>377384424

Literally for the (You)

If I ever stream there will be no notifications of any kind, also I'll stream at 144fps. I don't think people realize Twitch's player supports 144fps.

Most of them are lonely guys. They obviously work and its obvious they have no children or significant other to spend that money on. They also don't have any friends or else they could just spend that money on outings.

Because they are so devoid of human contact, they give money to a guy they watch so that they can get 15 seconds of recognition from another human being.

It's really quite sad and pathetic when you think about it.

I don't think there's anything inherently bad about acknowledging and thanking donators/subs but try to have some standards and don't enable viewers to be so autistic that you profit from it.

Also I wish I even knew what 144fps looks like because I've never seen a 144hz display in person. I imagine it's nice.

Not true, I watch streams for the gameplay. If you play at the high level in a game, most of the people in your matches will stream with 2 or 3 viewers and probably won't be talking, and everyone watches each other's streams when taking breaks to get a new perspective on ways to play.

They just want to feel a connection with somebody, like they made somebody's day better and their message was heard.

Twitch in general is a friendship simulator. 90% of any stream is dull af, but people stay there for the connection they feel to the community and the streamer. I have a theory that the sort of stream somebody watches says a lot about them and the sort of friends they wish they had.

twitch is incredibly odd

it's just full of complete and utter losers on both sides

if you have stuck around to watch enough streamers, youll find they all operate in such an eerily similar way that you'd swear that they were all working together to maximize their profits

they all have weird donation incentives, they all have odd catch phrases that they spout whenever someone donates, they all have incredibly fake over-reactive personalities, the only people they pay attention to in their chat are the donators themselves

then you have the viewers who donate and post in the chat who seem to legitimately believe the person they are watching is their friend, to the point where they will post shit that makes it seem like they think they are having a 1 on 1 convo with the streamer among the spam of emotes. they literally donate just so the streamer will pay attention to them for a few short moments

it's literally just losers with webcams taking advantage of the loneliness and boredom of even more pathetic people

Best case: They feel like they're rich art patrons from the Renaissance who donate a part of their wealth to a starving artist for no other reason than to enable that great mind to continue creating art for the betterment of the human condition. They expect nothing but their own intrinsic sense of humanist euphoria for being so enlightened in the way they see wealth and art.

Worst case: They feel like they're selflessly helping out a struggling close friend - just because they're just that good a guy, man - irrespective of the fact that the streamer has no fucking clue who they are beyond their entry in the donation account and don't give a fuck about them beyond that. They expect that if they keep donating the streamer will realize that they are their TRUE friend, and (if streamer is female) will thank them with sexy times at the next con meetup.

I have a small channel, like ~20 viewers on average small, and someone donated $400 to me a while ago, saying:

>Hey man, thanks for streaming so frequently, and being involved with the chat
>It's given me more than a few hours of enjoyment
>You're great background noise too, I listen to you all the time as I work

I was confused becausei 'd never seen him talk in the chat, but I wasn't gonna say no, so I just said thanks, and started watching for his name, but he stopped watching a few weeks after he donated. Who the fuck knows.

I've never felt a desire to donate to any streamers. They should do it because they want to, not for cash. That's why I do it, even though no one watches me, it's fun, it helps with my extreme anxiety.

No it's not. Those things don't even get you over 10 viewers. You have to have a base to grow off of to begin with. That's why you buddy up with popular streamers of the games you play, get them to raid you, and hope some of their viewers stick. If not, buy a viewbot. Works 100% of the time, I run 8 channels now all partnered, all viewbotted to reach that level, and they're all sustaining purely on actual human viewers, to around ~300 concurrent viewers each.

>>377387727
Don't ask /v/, because they only know the most popular streamers. And 99% of popular streamers suck, for the fact that they have to manage the flood of donations, and subscribers, and hosts, and followers, and everyone seeking attention in chat.

Here's how to do twitch right: Think of a number of games you like. Search them in the search bar, and follow them. That's right, follow the GAMES. And then search for streams that have a moderate amount of viewers. Like 15-40 viewers. Chances are, if other people are watching them, then they're at least trying to be entertaining.

You can try the streams with single digit viewers. But be careful. Because they're typically new to streaming. Which means a bunch of technical issues. And some of them are so desperate for attention, they'll pull you into a conversation before you decide if they're worth watching or not.

So, follow the streamers you enjoy. And give it some time to marinate. Sometimes you realize you don't like a streamer after some time. That's cool, just unfollow them. But always continue to look at your GAMES, not names. Follow based on quality of content, not because a million other dumbasses are following.

Also, smaller streamers have better chat interaction, since they can actually keep up with it. Big streamers get overwhelmed, and never see anything you type.

Someone has been viewbotting Hearthstone and Overwatch streamers since those games have existed. Every week there is a new Overwatch stream being blatantly viewbotted, like a random new high-ranked player who has thousands of viewers and has 'sigh, getting viewbotted again' in his stream title. Then the viewbotting stops and they have actual viewers.

I'm fairly sure it's Blizzard doing it, they are fully aware of the ad effect streams have.

Yeah. I started my own channel and I was terrible at it, I have a bad stutter, I'm not entertaining as a person, but I have great business skills. I helped my friend who plays that moba paragon, get partnered. I managed his finances, ran ads for him, basically controlled his whole channel, bought and set up his equipment, and more, while he just plays. I helped set up a "streamhouse" clone in arizona, and while it failed (obviously was going to) it was funded entirely by an outside source who bought the house, and now I live there, and run 3 separate streamers out of the house. Since all the rooms are soundproofed it's like having 3 minor studios. One of them plays WoW to a decent amount of people, the other plays H1Z1 (or did, they're playing PUBG right now), and then another that plays recent releases.

I just manage and advertise for 4 other channels. It's pretty good business. Only take a 15% cut for myself, but since I have a house that's paid off in it's entirety and only requires utilities and food, and the streamers pay for that shit, i'm basically living the NEET life.

Besides having to watch twitch streams 24/7 I mean, it leaves me little time to actually play games.

How many of the viewbot services one finds by googling are legitimate and not scams? Do you just run the viewbots at full force from the get-go or do you try and make it somewhat believable? Do you only manage people playing "top games" (Overwatch, Wow, Hearthstone, PUBG, etc) or do you think this strategy works for a variety stream?

And, do you have an email? I'd love to talk more.

Most are legitimate, they have no reason to lie, and you can easily chargeback if it is fake. And no, viewbots aren't just a toggle switch. You buy a package, and it ramps up viewercount over the span of a few weeks/a month/two months, and then wanes back down to real viewers afterwards, so it's not suspicious. (well, not as suspicious).

It works on any stream, but obviously if you're playing something like fucking maplestory or Osu, and pop up with 400 viewers, you're gonna get banned cause no one has 400 viewers in that shit. The key is making it believable. Partnership is almost entirely about keeping a stable concurrent viewercount. Can you stream for 3 months straight, and grow? Can you stream 3 months and at least stay stable, as in, lose less than 5% of your viewerbase? That's when you should apply. And even then, you should never apply if you're losing viewers month over month.

>>377390036
They do it full time because they have to pay rent with their sub profits and donations. I don't think they enjoy it anymore, but they hide it pretty well. It's a job like any other, though.

And you can absolutely grow a stream with less than full time dedication. But you have to be consistent in your scheduling. 3-4 hours every night, every day. No taking a break on weekends, it eats into your viewership. You have to treat it like a part time job on top of your full time job, or you'll lose viewers. They disappear in days.
>>
that but also streamers who viewbot, use fake subs/donates to get a train going for more donations and subs. its fucking disgusting how people can make a living doing this kinda shit.
>>
>>377390450

So, you mentioned how you start viewbotting and then taper off to get partnership; is Twitch watching for this stuff, then? Do you get large viewbot packages (e.g., 200+ viewers) to start or begin smaller to get some organic growth? And then, if you get to a point of actually having hundreds of legitimate viewers, is it better to stop viewbotting entirely or still use it as a way to fuel growth?

You'd think Twitch wouldn't give a shit since they profit from it, but it seems they do.

Because it's the best spot to be in class.
-people in front attract attention from the teacher
-people near the front are still too close for comfort to the teacher (they see the front and remember they have to watch the rest but their effort only reach to the second and third row)
-people on the back row are paid close attention because teachers know these types
-second row from the back, the uninteresting zone, the blind spot
-near window so you can look outside though i've found on the wall side is more hidden
It's a trade-off and a strategy born from observation of the teacher's habits with the goal of minimizing the annoyance of class.

Most of the channels I manage now had anywhere from 15-30 sustained viewers. I contact larger streamers in their game of choice, offer incentive in the form of donation (AKA I pay them to raid), they get raided, spike up like 800-900 viewers for around 15-20 minutes, this sets precedent that okay maybe 200 people coming back isn't so out of the realm of possibility. It doesn't trip up flags with twitch when I bot, the bots are all pretty standard for my provider of choice, they don't talk much, they just sit and watch with realistic names, not AAASHNDIGBQB210239901 like they're coming from some chinese website or some shit.

After 3-4 months of viewbotting, usually they're up near the top of the charts of their chosen game, with a concurrent 500-600 viewers, or even more, once. Twitch does care, but i've never had them shut down one of my channels or anything, I think as long as you dont' go overboard, they'll ignore it. Partnerships are beneficial for twitch. People with 1000+ viewers who aren't partnered, and thus aren't running ads every hour on the hour as recommended, aren't making twitch as much money, since people can't subscribe, and can't buy bits. That's why you'll occasionally see people pop up overnight with partnerships after a large raid. If they hang on to anything resembling a decent percentage of the raid attendants, twitch wants them partnered to get a potential double dip subscription.

As in, before any sort of botting or bribing? Do you think this is a necessity? You mentioned earlier that the viewbots ramp up.

>I contact larger streamers in their game of choice, offer incentive in the form of donation (AKA I pay them to raid)

This seems like a huge risk. All it takes is one guy who actually cares about the rules to forward an email/screenshot to Twitch and you're fucked.

>the bots are all pretty standard for my provider of choice

Do you mind saying what provider? Or, at least some of the things you look for in a provider? The sites I'm finding practically copy-pasted the website layout, wouldn't surprise me if they were all owned by the same group.

>After 3-4 months of viewbotting, usually they're up near the top of the charts of their chosen game

That seems crazy, especially for bigger games. Do you really think you can pull this off consistently, or are you just picky and choose clients who are strong entertainers?

Before any botting or anything. anything less than that and it looks suspicious if you suddenly get viewers when you had none before. There's a level that's just too shit.
>one guy who actually cares about the rules
that's why you don't say "hey raid my channel XXXXX and i'll pay you", you feel them out.
I'd rather not say what provider, cause I did before, and that got some angry smelly faggot on /v/ to report the service and forced them to switch domains which was a pain in the ass.

Obviously they're not gonna be topping WoW or pubg/fotm shit, or CS:GO or league, but first page/front page? Absolutely. And consistently getting people partnered isn't that difficult especially now that I have so many people working under me, who have all of their official twitch contact run through me. It's not a difficult thing to do, people just aren't willing to put in the work or money to start it up, and expect to get 200 viewers their first day when they're streaming right from their PS4 with some $5 built in phone mic.

Do you know how those people reached the 15-30 range? Maybe it's better for smaller games, but for big games there's pages and pages of 0 viewer streams that will never be seen by anyone. I'm willing to invest in a decent mic/cam and I'd be streaming from PC, but I want to make sure my time is spent fruitfully.

>rather not say what provider
My email is in the name if you're comfortable sending it that way. I'd appreciate any direction you can give me, there's pages and pages of these and they're mostly identical, and I haven't yet found any type of forum where people discuss or review them. I'm assuming the quality of the provider makes a big difference in the chances of success.

I've donated around 1200~ dollars to a few streamers that I like.
My mothers side of the family has "old money".
Their parents were rich and invested, and so my grandparents invested the money and it's never run out.
The money doesn't seem real at a certain point, and it doesn't impact me in any way.
I tend to gauge how expensive something is by how long the number is. So something with 4 numbers like $1000 isn't as expensive as something with like, 6 or 7 numbers.

Before you ask yes I am fat.

>>
>>377404241
If you're actually getting donations, it's likely you have multiple hundreds of viewers.

If you have hundreds of people watching whatever performance you have going on, stopping to thank every individual donation or subscription is an interruption to the rest of the people.
>>
>>377404348
There are donation services which are used that have functionality with twitch. TwitchAlerts is the most common one

why do people donate money for this though? Sometimes when I'm bored at night I go to some random twitch stream that isn't too active and start ineracting with the streamer, I get the attention from them for free and it doesn't cost me anything. They might even recognise me the next time I come to their stream whereas if you pay $20 to a popular streamer they forget who you are seconds after they read your donation out.
>>
>>377404387
It's also being considerate to the person who decided to give you money for free. If you don't thank people who give you free shit because you're afraid you'll hurt other people's feelings you are literally spineless

After 100 it gets easier because you are higher up on the list, and more people are likely to see you.
