Japanese games will either find an audience in the west or die out entirely. Mobage is dominant in Japan and sales for everything but mobage are basically nonexistent.

This is why EVERY big budget Japanese game in the past 5 years is designed for the West.

This is why its pretty important the console market stays afloat in Japan but Sony is the only one doing anything about it. The good thing is publishers are aware of this and have incentive to work with Sony so they don't get regulated to make mobile asset flips just to stay profitable in the games industry. Devices like the Switch aren't helping or drawing people back to core games.

There are plenty of better reasons to learn jap than that. Getting shit way earlier, avoiding censorship, puns and jokes getting dropped because they dont translate, not to mention the wealth of manga and LNs out there.
I didn't start learning to have some some sekrit club, and come to think of it they already exist on futaba so you can just go there if you so wished.
