as a kid and a Morrowind fan in 2006 playing this as my first next gen game, Oblivion was like a near-to-real life simulation and a seemingly infinite open world fantasy experience that kept me occupied for the better part of a year

on playing it earlier this year it was a boring piece of shit that has needs a thousand mods to give it any sense of balance or proper character progression and even then it's just a bunch of flat lifeless hills boring combat and repetitive fetch quests

make sure to mod level scaling. running around seeing minotaurs everywhere and every highwayman in a set of full glass just because you wanted to use interesting combinations of magic is not only immersion breaking but game-slowing and fun-killing

Get Oblivion XP or Relastic Leveling. Cause vanilla Oblivion leveling is absolutely horrible. Doing it "right" turns everyone into a damage sponge.

This is true. It's very restrictive and very boring. They went to great lengths to strip this game of anything interesting or fun, and they continued to do so in Skyrim.
