Listen, I could understand being upset if say, the Italian government told Nintendo they had to change it or not be allowed to sell it in Italy. That would be fucked up, but Nintendo did this themselves.

I also understand getting upset over Nintendo choosing to censor games like Fire Emblem and Xenoblade because those aren't aimed at children and they weren't censored in Japan.

But this is a game aimed at all ages, including very young children, and is intended to be as family friendly as possible. And the patch is global, Nintendo changed it for all regions, so it's not even a case "Hurr Durr, dumb westerners don't deserve this!!1!"

If it really is the equivalent of raising your middle finger, I can see why they'd remove it. If I'd bought this game for my kids and found out that a character was signing "fuck you" to other racers, I wouldn't be very content.
