Why is Dark Souls II so disgusting and arcady looking movements?

When I move around in Dark Souls I, everything looks natural and immersive--when I move around in Dark Souls II I immediately know I'm playing a shitty made video game and the fucken movements are jerky and disgusting makes me wanna vomit I can't get over it.

Fuck.This.Game.

Glad I didn't pay for this piece of garbage.

I don't know man, I just finished a caestus/demon fist run of DS2 and I had way more fun than I'm having now in DS3; I even have the Demon Fists. I kinda regret going for this playstyle in DS3, but I'm too far into my playthrough to give up now.

When you swing a great weapon in DS1 your character snaps his wrist in 17 different places because of how janky the animations are
When you run up a slope in DaS1 your ankles snap to whatever angle the ground is at

You are a complete retard, DS2 has more "realistic" animations than DS1 will ever have simply because DS2 animations are all motion captured, while DS1 is created by hand.

In DS2 playing at above 30 FPS actually effects the invincibility frames of dodging, durability loss on weapons, and a bunch of other mechanics.


The worst part is that it also breaks the backstabbing hitbox, switching it back to 30 FPS fixes all of that and makes the backstab about as fluid as it was in the first game.
60 FPS is almost always shit on Japanese games.

Why is dualwielding so shit in DS2? I got hyped for the fact they would "fix" it but its still awful. I imagined power stance would have you attacking fast and with lots of reach or something but in the end it plays like if you had a two handed weapon except much worse.

No he isn't. From tied a bunch of mechanics to frames. Durability on weapons is calculated based on the amount of frames your weapons soends inside of an enemy during a swing. So doubling the framerate meant your weapons degraded twice as fast. To my understanding this was fixed. There is a similar situation with the dodging in the game as wellx not sure it if was ever fixed. Tieing gameplay mechanics to framerate is a big no no in game development.

Speaking of durability, they might as well not even have it in DaS 3.

There was one video I watched where the guy sat there for one fucking hour letting enemies attack him and his durability was barely even hit.

It's the constant velocity, just compare something like the rollls, in the first the beginning the middle and the end are at different speeds, in the second it's constant, so entering and beginning the roll is as fast as the middle and ending of the roll, same with running and sprinting.
Same with other movements, they have a constant speed even that makes things look floaty and lacking weight.

ds3 uses the ds1 engine, they literally just ported over all of ds1 and updated shit, thats why all the old weapons and rings are still in the files in ds3

I got into this series late and everything mixed up for me. Played BB and DS3 which were great and pretty good respectively but now I'm starting 2 and it looks incredibly ugly. I'm not sure how it's possible for the game to be this gross looking.
