But also, and this note is important. He has after all this time been trying to raise a minimal level of mainstream awareness of his brand. So some schmuck started selling Touhou stuff as if they were official products and there was absolutely nothing ZUN could do about it. Which made him furious.

As a result. He actually changed his stance and approved some of the doujin games to be ported onto console.
The downside, and what he was always dreading. Now there are and there'll be tons of people who will assume that these games are the official games and not fan derivative work. He was completely right on that point.
