In every other game, arena spam is grinding because you're using it to farm experience and money for loads of turns instead of actually progressing on with the game. The world map games just make it easier for players to farm instead of having to wait for specific stages to juice up shitters.

I grinded on fucking FE1's arena, the one where all you get to be told is the gold amount, and everything can kill you. Yeah, I got fucked quite a few times by crits/learning the system and had to restart maps (fuck ch8), but it's ultimately the same strategy every other FE arena uses: lowball your shit, grind steadily. Once you can identify what the gold amounts mean, it's braindead.

Sacred Stones just cut out the middle man. Grinding has always been an option, always. Geneaology is the only one where it was actively discouraged.

Yeah it is. Hell back in 2003 when I was new to SRPG and awful at FE I was still able to grind Guy to level 20/10 promoted in the arena in one chapter in FE7(on GBA so no save states).

Try formulating a real argument because it's impossible to fight an archer in the arena with a peg knight. You use an iron weapon and can only fight enemies where both groups have the range to attack each other.
