Yooka-Laylee was nowhere near as much of a flop, had nowhere near as massive a PR disaster(/v/'s reaction to the Jontron debacle was disproportionately huge), and most importantly, fulfilled every promise made in its Kickstarter. MN9 is exceptional in its failure as both a Kickstarter and an overarching marketing campaign, and the fact that /v/ can only name three whole games when talking about "failed kickstarters" and only ONE(1) of them was factually a failure, and one of them isn't even out yet, is a testament to the fact that many more notable kickstarter games have succeeded rather than failed in the same scope as MN9.

Okay anon, I will try to help you.

The most common concrete criticism about Banjo was the camera at some parts, and having beat Yooka I didn't have a problem with it.

Another is that worlds are too big. I would sincerely prefer for words to be smaller with more worlds, but it's enjoyable when I find it a cool theme such as swamp or ice.

A valid criticism is that the worlds were empty, but having playing it it's full with a lot of stuff. The only place with this problem is the casino and only in certain parts with it, because they want to pass the idea the casino is huge.

So it would be unfair to say that Yooka is a bad game, since he pretty much nailed the Banjo formula. Whenever I see complains it's most people suffering from nostalgia goggles, who forget that a collecting game purpose is to collect.
