What features would you like to see in future Animal Crossing games?

Hard Mode: no dating / relationships

Larger towns. It gets monotonous once you hit ten villagers.

Roommates, dating, and marriage

What fundamental improvements could you make beyond bringing back NES games and adding more personalities? You might as well just make New Leaf Deluxe.

>no island

fuck off best part of New Leaf

Happy home designer furniture placement system.

Larger Town/ More village customization options

More minor events

Some kind of gossip scenarios to find out what your neighbors are up to.

Remove Isabelle

Dating/Marrige
>>
Expand your house from the outside, like being to put a bench, proper garden with a gnome next to your door.
>>
>>377073976

The original game still has the most meaty dialog, villagers repeat themselves way too much in new leaf. Also it's okay to let people act like assholes, nl had so many characters who felt plastic as hell
>>
>No more rolling log map, use inverted sphere map like in the promo pictures
>Third person 360 camera
>lager map with more varying terrains
>city area and village exist on one map
>Roads, pathways, and trails
Player character and villagers can use vehicles such as bikes, skooters, small cars, ect.
>neighborhoods
>50 villager limit

The switch is so powerful there's no reason why they couldn't greatly up the number of villagers.

i want it on the switch and not the 3ds (I own both)

It's been too long since a console AC.

unfortunately i'll get neither and it'll be on phones
>>
bigger towns (at least 20 villagers) and much more villager dialogue are my main two wants

i'd fuck with a save import feature to have everyone from my NL town move in and skip the tutorial but i understand if that doesn't happen
>>
Bring back the grid view from the original
>>
>>377073976
Get rid of the rolling pin world
Customize outside of house and floorplan
Have an option to scale the clock length of the world to something like harvest moon duration instead of going real world time
Expand on gardening and harvesting
Cookouts with neighbors
Design town layout including water bodies
Bring back emulator items
>>
>>377073976
give me the choice to be mayor or not

I just want an e manual on how to prevent my dog from running and trying to bite every time I try to fuck him in the ass

>>
Romance because fuck you
Also, the dialogue needs to be expanded by a shit ton. You should never have two villagers that say the same thing
>>
Larger map and no grids

Interior deocaration no longer has a grid and all items not attatched to a wall can be rotated 360degrees

A way to motherfucking favorite villagers to precent them from accidentally moving out because you aren't checking your town every single god damn day

Allowing you to suggest new house placements for potential new residents if you dislike random placements

Sex minigame with Pecan![\spoiler]
>>

towns with friends over wi-fi like a server.
bigger towns with more bigger villager limit. be able to convince villagers to stay if they are still packing.

>No gimmicks
What exactly do you consider a gimmick, in Animal Crossing?
>implying more places are gimmicks
I mean, they should still improve the core experience, but that doesn't mean they should try and make everything compact. On the other hand, if the town's big enough, there shouldn't be a need to make a city-like area a separate place.
>>
>>377074197
Roommates+Imagination=marriage, imo.
>>
I really don't like the shops being separate from the village. I get that it makes things more convenient to travel to, but it makes the town feel emptier
>>
Bigger village. More villagers, more ways to place houses. I want to live on the beach, zoning laws be damned.
I want a front yard with a fence, a yard I can customize, not a piece of land I parceled off with holes.
Vary up the dialogue.
>>
being able to play the game late at night
I work all fucking day and whenever I booted it up at 10:30pm everyone was asleep and I couldn't do quests
>>
Ask me where I wish to place my new villagers home.
Place stores, and the post office in the village.
Stop the rolling log view.
Add official paths.
Be able to send mail to other towns from my town, and receive it vice/versa.
Be able to use prop consoles like the virtual boy.
No romance at all, only on valentines.
Give villagers actual personality and dialogue. I wanna see my snooty villagers make passive aggressive remarks at me, and have grumpy villagers act rude, and cranky, instead of them all being nice.
Remove grass deterioration.
Add more night time stuff like the club.
Have Isabelle take breaks on the Weekend.
Let me be able to have 15 villagers max.
Expand the map.
Make ordinances effect stores too.
Make it an option to change my village name late game.
>>
>>377076980

>>
>>377073976

no more villagers moving out if you don't play every day

different types of village areas (deserts, snowy mountains, tropical islands)
a theater that shows performances or movies
late night activities
>>

Remove Isabelle, or make her optional, IE being able to pick someone else to be your assistant. I loathe how she's more or less become the main mascot of the series, it's obnoxious how she's always trying so desperately to be adorable and appeal to furfags. Granted, I understand why they do it, since furfags are an obvious group to appeal to, but I'd love the option to opt out of dealing with her.
More in-depth towns; landscaping, being able to live in different biomes (deserts, mountainous areas, etc.)
The ability to create actual paths and spread them en masse, instead of having to pain-stakingly place each piece one by one, and having to take up an entire character's custom pattern slots.
Each character should have their own dialogue, period. Having a colossal cast of villagers doesn't mean jack shit when they're only grouped into a dozen over-arcing personality types which essentially act like skin swaps among eachother.
More in-depth villager interraction as a whole; having to actually work to befriend them, and the ability to have a villager actually dislike you like in the original games, instead of everyone treating you like a saint. Different characters would interact with eachother, maybe be happy/upset if you befriend/hate another villager, or certain groups (the twin rabbits, the superhero villagers, etc.) would have unique interractions, and so on. Currently, it's fucking pointless to ever talk to villagers; they feel like set pieces, not actual individuals I should even attempt to care about. Once you hear the dozen or so different things a personality type says, there's literally no reason to ever talk to them again.
More gameplay; maybe make fishing and catching bugs more in-depth than, "press A when you see a bug/fish", maybe some sort of cave to explore to find fossils/gems/etc. instead of just mindlessly going around digging up the holes.

I could go on forever, but I'm running out of space.
>>
I want to have the beach be bigger and have events on there. If they bring back you being mayor then they should have beach PWPs too.

>>
I've been wanting to develop and Animal Crossing like game after seeing the success Stardew had with impersonating Harvest Moon
Seems like there's general interest in comfy games being redone with new features

Would making the villagers animals be too on the nose?

Seasonal carnivals with fun minigames and prizes. I would ask for a town casino, but that would be a bit much.
>>

Do something like Mysterious Times, some villagers were robots, animals or even plants.

Let actual towns take shape instead of random wilderness dotted with houses. I don't need streets and city blocks, but at least have footpaths and lawns with property lines.

Making them a variety of things would absolutely be best. That way you not only get the furry audience interested, but also people who like robots, plants, and regular people, too.

A similar cute-puppety-anatomy style would be nice too, but yeah, naturally you'll have to be very careful of Nintendo.

>>
Big towns, more stuff to explore, an actual island, more depth to swimming, better dialogue/actual personalities, happy home designer mechanics, more holidays with more activities, more mini games, more social features, rooms that aren't at a set place, and maybe some very very very light rpg mechanics
>>
>>377080889
>and maybe some very very very light rpg mechanics
Hell yeah. It probably seems like a dumb complaint for Animal Crossing, but I feel like with even the simplest RPG-ish mechanics would really help make the game more than a mindless chore to 100%. It just needs a slight touch of gameplay; as it is, it just feels like a slot machine that I play over and over until I get the few remaining things I need to 100% it.
>>
>>377073976
How about a little more facial animations? Yeah, I know, that's part of the aesthetic of the series, I'd just like them to emote a little bit more than generic happy, generic confused head tilt, and generic shaking head with a little squiggly above them.
>>
>>377081474
A lot of the problems with Animal Crossing stem from the fact that Nintendo hasn't moved the series very far beyond the Gamecube/N64 games. That's kinda why I'm hoping moreso that some rando makes an Animal Crossing-like game, rather than Nintendo doing it, because I'd bet a fortune on Nintendo being content with just selling New Leaf 2 for the Switch.

There IS a ruling paradigm in these games, you guys should know.
AC is what people play to unwind after a hard day's work in the city, where they don't want to deal with too much difficult or deep stuff. Everything they put in has to be relatively simple, as well as interesting and original. They have it down pat for their main IPs, but AC adds the problem of the higher skill/involvement ceiling being a slight detriment to the main experience.
In that light, a lot of this thread is out. Including most relationship stuff.

Animal Crossing GCN's personal island with a cottage that can be customized and visited by others as opposed to the bland, boring, circular island from New Leaf.
More job opportunities like how NL had you working at the coffee shop. I thought it was cute, and the rewards were great (I love coffee, so they were fitting in my home), but there was no incentive after earning the final prize.
There are still things from the GCN game that I've wished would return ever since they were removed in WW. Charming things like morning exercises with Copper, and other small things like kicking the soccer ball around.

I trust them to make it good. NL didn't stray too far from the formula and still improved on almost everything that came before it.

>Multiple people demanding 20+ villagers

Allowing more villagers to live in each town would only further reveal the already evident limitations of villagers' "personalities". Also, it would severely compromise the game's comfy factor; who wants to deal with maintaining 10, 15, 20 fake friendships?
Both of those problems would be better addressed by focusing on writing unique dialogue for each villager or at least adding more personality sub-types that make the systems machinations less apparent to players. If there is a reason that Nintendo hasn't evolved the villager personalities since the GCN days, it isn't apparent to me.

It'd also be better to allow the player to influence villagers decisions to move. As it stands, it's too time-consuming to manipulate villagers into leaving, and logical methods don't work. It's pathetic that the best way to get villagers to move out is to go sit in the fucking ocean for hours on end. Being able to choose whether you want a constant flow of new villagers or a roster of 10-15 familiars would be nice. I find myself wanting to get rid of villagers far more often than I find myself wanting to keep them, personally.

Then there's the obvious stuff, like more town customization, getting rid of the rolling log perspective, potentially changing the way towns are assembled (acres are getting boring, there's no reason not to have more varied permutations), allowing the player to create paths and choose where villagers live, etc.
>>
>>377088196
>Allowing more villagers to live in each town would only further reveal the already evident limitations of villagers' "personalities".
Then make each character unique.

It's 2017. They can fucking handle to at the very least try and make each character more diverse than having one of 12 personalities.
>>
Honestly, I wouldn't complain if the development of the next Animal Crossing focused entirely on villagers and the player's relationship with them - and, no, this doesn't mean romance for the fucking furries and degenerates.

New Leaf's OST approached the quality of the original's, after WW's and CF's mediocre OSTs; so the only aspect of the series that's still seriously stagnant is villagers. For a series that sells itself on its charm, they're are the thing that's hindering the series the most.

>ability to create a house party or your own event
>more dialogue
>more part-time jobs that villagers / NPCs can offer you
>a fully decorative island
>allow PWPs to be on the beach
>more dialogue
>easier pattern placements
>a yard system that you can grow flowers / fruits / vegetables and make hybrids
>a way to set up plots for villagers to move in to instead of them plopping their plot on your garden
>better weather system
>more dialogue
>varying terrain
>more minor events
>don't make villagers repeat themselves too much
>make villagers work part time to some stores so you can interact with them on how it's going
>more dialogue
>roommates (villagers move in to your house instead of setting up plot)
>regress villager personalities back to being an asshole (they have a reason as to why they act like assholes, just like real life)
>once you get to know them better and they start liking you, they open up to you as to why they act a certain way, and share other things they're comfortable with sharing now that they like you

An online mode where you and a group of friends can build up a town and live in it all to yourselves. Mega comfy MMOish sort of thing.

That's what I want.

Not like MMOish but something like a person hosts an online town at certain times where other 3 other players live that have their own houses and save data in the town.

>Villager lots
a dedicated area where everyone lives instead of a clusterfuck of houses screwing up my gardens and paths. alternatively, let me pick specific places new villagers move into
>More dialogue, personality, meaningful relationships (not dating)
>More interior design and fashion
>More recurring visitors like Blanca
>Simple cooking system (Like learning Fruit Pie Recipe and can use any kind of town fruit in it, or Sashimi Recipe with any kind of fish) and letting us gift it to villagers
>Make the museum a little more rewarding. Toggle-able donation descriptions.

That's all I'm really interested in.

More minigames and shit to collect.
