System Shock 3 concept art.
Hopes or fears about the game? I wish there is a vertical element in the maps, that is too rarely done in fps-games. In ss1 you got the flying boots but they were not utilized that much.

Got more of those new concepts? They look more SS1 than SS2, may be because SS3 takes place on citadel station (confirmed on starbreeze stream, it's damaged but not completely destroyed)
Meanwhile new SS1 reboot concepts look more realistic than kickstarter demo

Here.

>citadel station blew up in SS1
>looks pristine in the concept art

What makes this aesthetic look 'futuristic'? Have I been brainwashed to associate it or is there really something about it? Hrmm
>>377075713
I'm guessing it's all the shiny metal and sharp angles
It's in the best hands it could possibly be, so I'm convinced it won't fail. I just hope we eventually get a real Thief continuation made by the right devs. Now that Square is letting go of the Hitman IP, I seriously hope they let Thief, Deus Ex and Legacy of Kain go too.
>>377075578
it could be some other ship or whatever
>>377075578
I figure that's how long it is after SS1, it must've been rebuilt. They also confirmed SHODAN is back too
I have zero faith in it whatsoever. I just can't trust modern game devs to understand what made the first two games so great.
>>377077730
Yup. I've seen too many nostalgia cash grabs to trust any remakes now.
>>377077730
>modern game devs
>Warren Spector and Paul Neurath, along with other LGS people are working on the game
They're onthe other side of the looking glass
>making ss3 after we already just got ss3
wew lad
>>377073637
Is this even being worked on by any of the original SS devs?

Alright, cool.

Since Shodan can, in ss2, alternate reality, she might have created it.
>>377078124
Fun fact: Prey was in development at Arkane as "Not System Shock 3" and they were trying to get Bethesda to buy the name/license when it came out the real SS3 was already in development
>>377078124
Ponterbee Station fanmission for SS2 came out quite some years ago though, so I don't understand what you mean.

Looks like overdesigned crap, frankly. I just finished playing SS1. Great game, but I have zero optimism that a true modern successor is going to be made in the modern climate. And no, Prey is not close. Prey is pretty cool for a contemporary game but it was on par with Deus Ex Human Revolution--refreshing, but still severely flawed.
>>377079580
>overdesigned
>>377079580
>that entire post
the cool kid achievement unlocked
>>377080150
Yes, putting a bunch of pointless protrusions and filigrees is overdesigned. You can do Star Wars/Nostromo paneling without it looking stupid.
>>377074040
>SS3 takes place on citadel station damaged but not destroyed
Could be great if they know how to utilize cramped environments and claustrophobia well as well as provide great visuals of a decrepid space station.
>>377079580
You don't know what overdesigned means.
>>377074040
>citadel station is damaged but not completely destroyed
lol, that's fucking stupid, it's completely obliterated in the cutscene
A P-PERFECT TSUNDERE MACHINE
>>377080335
This is System Shock paneling though, not cuckwars or cuckromo.
>>377080897
How can cutscenes be real if our cyber implants arent real?
>>377080995
System Shock didn't look like that, it was mostly flat grids/panels, lights, and computery "tech wall" stuff. Pipes and struts everywhere is cool for maintenance tunnels and "behind the scenes" areas, but not a main hallway.
>>377080689
Detailed and intricate for the sake of being detailed and intricate.
He's right. There's no reason everything in that game needs to be detailed and angular like that, it's just there because they thought it would look cool.
You'd think the developer of a sci-fi RPG whose first game had a grand total of 7 polygons would grasp this but apparently not.
>>377081187
Too bad, things go forward. Maybe you should also stop being a nostalgia fag.
>>377081350
Maybe you should stop thinking you know better than the people who created the very thing you love so much.
>>377081426
>it's better because there's more stuff
Yeah forget any kind of context or lore or designing things that exist for some kind of purpose in a role-playing game, just throw more stuff on it
>>377081606
You don't need to be a 5-star chef to say McDonalds makes sub par food
>>377081719
>food comparison
Throwing in the towel so soon?
>>377081719
Considering the criticism is that it's "overdesigned" that's a poor example. It's more like the opposite. You've eaten Mcdonalds for so long that 5-star restaurant food is to strong for your taste buds.
>>377081895
This post makes no sense at all.
>>377081895
Pretty much this.
Don't go around spouting non sequiturs bro, in the end it might come back and bite you in the ass.
And still, that's not what overdesigned means.
>hopes not nostalgia bait
>fears nostalgia bait.
>>377082043
Yeah I didn't think my example was any better, but the one posted made no sense
>>377073637
>Fears
It's gonna bring nothing new into the table, besides riding on the fame of the previous games, so it's gonna end up being yet another "Choose your own playstyle and loot shit along the way" game. That might have been enough back when the originals came out but now that everyone has done it, you need your own thing to catch attention
>>377080335
Starwars is completely different because you can reach a civilized planet in like an hour from any point in space. System Shock crew members don't have that liberty and it wouldn't be shocking that a large space station would have areas that are a bit more artsy likely for crew to feel less stress being thousands of miles away from Earth. I'm sure it's a recreational area/crew quarters anyways in that third picture
