"Open world" is just a shitty buzzword for sandbox games that have minimal gameplay structure. Instead of being deliberately structured game with goals and objectives you're just meant to fuck around until you happen across shit to do.

Which is perfectly fine by itself, there's nothing wrong with a sandbox game, but it should be taken as a completely different genre of game to coexist alongside "linear" games. It absolutely pisses me off when people think of open world games as being the next step for all games to take, a requirement for all games and the gold standard that all games must adhere too. I've seen this argument before and I'm wondering if "objective flaw" is actually objective.

I know receiving a shitty answer or no argument whatsoever can be irritating but when someone says things like "game is too slow" it could also be interpretated as "that other game is too fast".

When you compare skill levels of certain games you are also not being objective because the fact you enjoy something with a highly competitive scenario doesn't mean a more casualized experience is objectively worse.

When you point something that has been done before and it's not as revolutionary as some other people claim you are not really outing the game as something bad or flawed, instead, you are just pointing game is not as original as it looks like (even if said not original aspect is what's making the game popular on the first place), at most you are exposing whoever got impressed by it as ignorants, but it doesn't detract from the quality of the game at all.

And so the list goes on. Beng actually objective seems like a pretty hard thing to do.
